FULL TITLE: Dangerously malnourished 12-year-old boy is rescued from a filthy bathroom, covered in feces where 'his mother had forced him to live for a YEAR'
The mother of a 12-year-old boy found dangerously malnourished and locked in a filthy bathroom has been charged with child abuse.
Utah woman Brandy Kay Jaynes, 36, was arrested on a second-degree felony charge of aggravated, intentional child abuse early Monday morning.
The boy had allegedly been kept in a filthy bathroom at his home in the small southeastern Utah city of Toquerville near the state line with Arizona.
Court documents state the boy was rushed to the Dixie Regional Medical Center by his father, who found his son locked up at Jaynes' home and covered by a blanket, according to The Spectrum.
He weighed just 30 pounds, which is considered by the Centers for Disease Control to be the average weight for a two-year-old, and was unable to stand on his own.
Investigators also believe the boy was likely kept in the dark.
When officers later searched the home, they found three-square-feet of duct tape mounted on the light switch so it could not be turned on.

Utter depravity. What a depressing story. We need to pray for that poor kid. I hope he can recover and somehow lead a normal and productive life, but without Divine intervention I don’t see how.
Could have been deployed or going through a bitter divorce with a man hating woman for a couple.
Actually I’m wondering where there were any other adults for the past year. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins? Anyone? How can family members not notice him gone?

I saw on another news source that the child was taken out of school 3 years ago. It seems this monster mother was the only one in contact with her children.

My son was 30 lbs at 6 months.
The mother is a monster. I also can’t understand why his 2 siblings didn’t speak up and tell someone what she was doing.
I wish her punishment would be to spend a year in a dark locked bathroom with a can of beans! After that she could go to a regular prison after they told the other inmates what she had done!
I expect things like this in larger cities, but a lot of these stories are in smaller communities in middle America... sad.
