Both Kennedy mistress Mary Meyer and Jackie Kennedy (Before she was First Lady) often walked on the C&O Canal towpath for exercise. It cost Meyer her life when she was killed by two bullets less than a year after her lover was killed by two bullets in Dallas.
Meyers killer walked free in sort of a reverse-To-Kill-a-Mockingbird when a DC all-Black jury didn’t see it as beyond a reasonable...
Bingo!! But it is difficult to believe the DC police got them all. So that technique is still in play. :-)

We need people like you working for the FBI, the CIA, and similar agencies (after Trump cleans house and gets rid of all the subversives there). Or maybe you could help identify and get rid of them, too.
It’s not nearly on the same scale, but within a year or so after 9/11 and the DC sniper attacks, I found 4 cell phones in a gutter. IIRC, they were sealed in a baggie. They were 4 different brands, none of which were common. I called the cops just in case it could be terrorist-related (or drug-related, or gang-related, or whatever). I never found out what happened to them or whether they were linked to any crime.
I found them while I was on a walk. So yes, walkers do notice things. If this were connected to any terrorist, gangs, or drug dealers, I would definitely NOT want my name broadcast to them.
