A neighbor helping to clean a vacated mobile home discovered a grenade strapped to a package with a highly flammable substance Saturday morning, according to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.
The device was removed safely, and no injuries were reported.
The 82-year-old resident of the mobile home in K & K Mobile Home Park, 4918 14th St. W., Bradenton, had moved out on Thursday, when his 56-year-old son came and took him back to Lufkin, Texas, with him, according to a news release.

Easy to explain. The resident was Aunt Bethany's soulmate. If not the fruit-shaped grenade, it would have been the cat wrapped up in there.
He probably just wanted to make a pineapple upside-down cake for the Christmas party.

Well, from my viewing experience, one guy stored a WWII era grenade in his basement, up on a support beam. The new owner of the house was asked by a neighbor "Hey, did the old homeowners leave the grenade behind?"
A passing news story in the Boston area about twenty-five years ago, since the grenade was still there, and the bomb squad was called in to handle it.

Ok. I don’t get this.

Before they left, the son asked a neighbor to clean up the mobile home and pack up all of his father’s belongings, the release said”.
So the grenade was planted in the oven by the 82 year old former resident or the son, who left his forwarding address, likely.? I’m sure this guy is on the suspect list but he seems very unlikely to have done this and be such an easily found criminal.
