if they voted at all.

Sure, but what are the odds they've been out protesting our votes.

I went to a movie theater in the Philippines years ago. Every seat was taken and people were sitting in the aisles. So many people it was impossible to leave my seat. The only light was from the screen. I couldn’t enjoy the movie from thinking that if anything happened I would die.

This puts me in memory of the Station Nightclub fire in Rhode Island back in 2003. Same scenario.

Check out this creepy picture on CNN:

Lower and left of the flames is a creepy wall art image that is coming out of the fire.

Oakland, apparently, is in the process of “gentrifying,” i.e., becoming a cool place for young, trendy types. Sort of like Brooklyn in the last decade.

Prayers for the missing and the families of the deceased. I caught myself thinking “wow, they’re still doing that out there?” Then I realized how old I am, that everything old is new again, the 20 year cycle. I was just barely young enough to have caught the first round of raves and rave clubs back in the late 80’s - early 90’s.

Yes, there’s a contingent that is fairly drug saturated, just as there has always been in just about any nightclub of any sort. Many club kids delight in being weird, so much so that it becomes a form of conformity in itself. The environments are often DIY to the point of being dangerous, they’re on the edge of legality and conformity with fire safety laws. Some are “pirate,” not legal at all and proud of it, that libertarian or anarchist streak.

But for the grace of God, could have been me on any number of occasions. Last rave I attended was in 1999, northern CA in fact. Labor Day weekend. “Labor Of Love,” DJ Stompy Dig. Recall it well, oddly enough.

Will somebody please tell this Old Guy what a “Rave” party is? I have no idea why 100 people were having some kind of party in a Warehouse. If some of you younger folks can explain this to me it would be appreciated.

Burning to death in a fire is my personal worst case nightmare death. So I feel for these people immensely.

So I feel horrible about laughing at your post, just awful.

There’s a whole culture surrounding a certain type of (usually) electronic dance music, they get together and dance all night. There are formal rave nightclubs and there are more impromptu setups, in warehouses, abandoned buildings, even outdoors.

Also did you notice that the windows on the second floor are covered with a steel mesh. The second floor is where they found the bodies. Who knows if that steel mesh was not there perhaps there would have been a chance for them to jump out of those windows. That mesh prevented anyone breaking the windows from the outside or inside. That place no doubt was a big fire hazard.

They could be children. These events attract underage crowds. The promoters run these pop-up shows because the Democrat bureaucracy uses economic terrorism against anyone who wants to run a safe and legal venue.

Perhaps he does have an axe to grind or perhaps not. Whatever the situation was, the city run by liberals, who are good in making regulations but DO NOT check or enforce their own laws are also responsible.

No doubt down the run there will be lawsuits.

Looking at the mugs of the missing I would bet 10 hits of ecstasy that everyone one of these slugs would like to toss everyone one of us into a mass grave

You'd likely be wrong about every one of them. The majority, yes, but there are many seriously determined nonconformists. You'd be surprised at the number who are hard-nosed civil libertarians to the point of sounding almost paleo-con.

Well, I’m an old guy too, but I know the term.

A “rave” is a big party with music that has a strong beat, probably a light show, the music could be “trance”, could be “techno”, there are other names for it, where people do drugs such as extascy and stay up all night, they are in unpermitted large spaces, and the publicity is spread by word of mouth or handbills depending on whether you want a big crowd, or just the cool kids.
