Before the crash, many got out of their seats and started to scream, Tumiri said
really? oh yeah, that will defiantly help.

I am sure his words bring comfort to the relatives of the dead passengers!

Did the plane run out of fuel?
Seems someone posted yesterday that there was no fire.
To: BenLurkin
I will NOT fly. The last time I flew in an aircraft, I jumped out of it and was more than happy to do so!
Getting in a metal tube with wings on it, reaching a height of 30-somethin' thousand feet above ground is idiotic.

Ran out of fuel. Yep. The pilot circled for a bit in an attempt to locate a landing area. Someone at the airport should be going to jail on negligent homicide charges.

Whether one is securely belted and/or crunched into fetal position would not much matter with the crash scene that looks like this:

That certainly qualifies as a hard landing, for sure...

agreed, but you dont know that before hand. running around aimlessly screaming isnt going to do one bit of good. At least buckled in you might have a chance to withstand the impact, there were some survivors...

Riiight. And females destroyed America.
What do you think about those horseless carriages Grandpa? Anything going over 25 miles an hour Surely must be a menace.

My thought every time I get on a plane:
“I do not want to die with these people”.

If it’s true, tough. It’s their own fault for behaving like idiots. They might all deserve Darwin awards this year.

I met a guy once who was the sole survivor of a commuter plane crash. The other twelve passengers and the pilot perished.
He was belted into his seat and when the plane crashed, he was the lone survivor. He was a huge fat guy, too. The only reason I could figure he lived was maybe the dispersion of his body over a really big butt lessened the impact to his organs.

Concur with your post 100%, wyowolf.
My uncle survived a commercial jetliner crash a dozen or so years ago, so I am aware for sure.
In this particular instance it seems a parachute would have been the best equipment to have had available. :-(

Getting in a metal tube with wings on it, reaching a height of 30-somethin' thousand feet above ground is idiotic. I'm pretty much with you. Hadn't flown anywhere for 30 years, until recently when we had an important family event. There was no realistic alternative (it would've been even crazier trying to cross the continent by train or car).
All went fine, but I had a few minutes of concern when the plane started its descent. Suddenly it seemed as if all power had been cut to the engines. The plane was totally silent, and (from my point of view) we didn't even seem to be moving. Of course we were moving, but it was eerie. Just as if the plane were floating, 30,000 ft up in the atmosphere.
I don't remember experiencing a descent like that in many previous trips 30+ years ago.
