I just heard, about 60 seconds ago, that Trump has chosen Elaine Chao, wife of MITCH MCCONNELL, to be his Transportation Secretary. His last few cabinet picks have been atrocious choices (that he's even considering Romney is disgusting) and one must wonder if the RNC and his Rinsy Boy are not calling the shots at these horrible choices. There is hardly a bigger RINO or more destructive person in the Senate than Mitch McConnell. Chao is just a Bush cabinet retread with no particular qualifications for this job. The people voted in Trump to get away from the RNC establishment, and here he is appointing every tired sorry retread from it. What is wrong with you, Donald? By what tender part of your body are they hanging you, to get you to name their prized idiots to your cabinet? You have the presidency, both houses, and you want to poison your own well with these cretins, who will actively work against all the things people voted FOR. Wake up, buddy.
Yes, definitely a move with Yertle the Turtle in mind. Transportation? A minor office. Don’t think that Trump won’t be involved with improving our infrastructure.
She’ll be getting LOTS of Trump supervision.
But this move gets the Turtle more in hand. I don’t foresee Trump having much problem exerting leverage over the House, given his strong link with the people (who can primary GOPe types in the House).
This move enlists the Turtle to exert leverage on McCain, Linda, Flakey Flake, etc.
A favor for the minor Transportation Secretary in exchange for leverage in the Senate?
A smart trade, IMO.
Friends close... enemies closer
And what does that have to do with Transportation?
Shrewd
Don’t want any Free Traitors in the administration.
She’s a former deputy trans secty. Her family from Chin is a big company dealing with China. Trump promised to fix China. She’s a Heritage foundation conservative, and not just a body.
SOS is going to have to be someone. Mitt is the one we should be fighting against the hardest. If that leaves us with Corker then so be it. Personally I don’t see anything special about any of the names put forward thus far. It seems like the reality is for SOS you are going to get a typical politician. I’d like to hear other names though, Jindal maybe Perry, Newt, Huck. I’d at least like hear the case against them.
Don’t spoil their fun.................
Honestly who cares. Can you name the major role that the current secretary of transportation is playing? If this helps Trump get things passed then ultimately it’s win.
It isn’t your administration, it is Trump’s.
But it translates to more corrupted money to distribute to their donors of Mitch.
‘She’s married to the Majority Leader and Trump must be trying to get on his good side. It isn’t going to work.’
It’s amazing when people get the impression they’re God. God is the only one who can speak of the future in absolute terms, because He’s the only one who knows with certitude what’s going to happen.
You, on the other hand, have only your opinion. It’s your opinion that Trump made this appointment for a reason that is inescapably doomed to fail.
You sound as if you hope Trump fails. Perhaps you’ll get your wish, but time alone will tell how accurate your crystal ball was.
Conflict t of interest for Mitch! He ends to resign his majority leader post.
Nikki Haley WAS TEA Party but, like Rubio, she turned her back on conservatives.
Needs to resign, sorry.
What? You are against Bolton? NEVER Corker the one that gave up the Senate approval of Treaties to that clown tyrant in the WH
This just screams “deal”. So I wonder what McConnell will do to pay the debt? Whatever it is, it is big. I am thinking either Obamacare or a SCOTUS nomination.
The odd reality that Washington DC is based on a credit/debit system between politicians. It is not inherently corrupt.
For example, say a congressman really wants a bill passed that would be of huge benefit to his district but is otherwise uninteresting to other congressmen. So he offers to vote for “equivalent-value” bills for other congressmen in exchange for their vote.
These IOUs can add up for really big bills, with congressmen clearing many debts all at once.
However, the flip side is when somebody votes against your bill, for whatever reason. You owe them a “get even” vote against one of their pet bills.
Above all of this are party leadership votes, usually carried out by the party “whip”, whose job it is to use both promises and threats to ‘whip’ that party’s congressmen to vote for a leadership offered bill.
Every now and then there is a revolt against the leadership, the last one being against John Boehner as speaker, when he pushed conservatives too far, too often.
If she's supposed to help Trump fix China then wouldn't she better serve him in Commerce?
Because she knows transportation.
Of course.
