As someone who has grown up around artists and liberals my whole life: I want to say, Hamilton is an incredibly well-written, well-produced, true-to-history feat! The phenomenon is cause for hope that liberals and young generations of "minority" Americans will identify with our founders after years and years of being conditioned to view America as fundamentally a bad place and our founders as fundamentally hostile, racist people -- and not for the great, complex, robust characters they were!
Give it more time, and eventually more will eventually be drawn to conservatism, which ideally leads to embracing the Judeo-Christian principles and our Creator God which underpin them.
Regardless,
I think a basic rule of thumb is to not enter hostile, traditional enemy territory (in this case, Broadway/Hollywood) JUST after a battle while the blood is still wet on the ground from defeat so to speak. Hence why I think the timing for the VP-elect's attendance was not right.
Abraham Lincoln understood this! This is why Civil War reconstruction was such a disaster because he died before being able to oversee it. The North did not give the South enough time to sort of recover itself from the initial war itself! (A far more extreme example, yes, but the idea still applies!)
"Making America Great Again" will not just happen in a day and President-elect Trump did a great job in reaching out to groups of people considered traditionally opposed to the conservative message: African-Americans, et al. It's a start!
I believe the actor will be proud of himself the rest if his life as if he were the Chinese man who repeatedly moved to stand in front of the tank in Tianam Square. Based on public reaction to his conduct, this behavior will probably spread because liberal corrosion spreads by imploring everyone ELSE to show tolerance to their demands, accusation, feelings, petulace, rage, hatred etc.
I think it’s totally fine for any actor to recite MLK’s speeches, but to play him would be odd because his struggle was directly tied to the racial struggle.
Jefferson was a slaveowner, but MLK readily quoted Jefferson’s words because of the universalism of the message.
And Jesus was more than mere man, but yes I know people share my views.
Broadway has gone way, way downhill since the days when Good News, Show Boat, Oklahoma!, South Pacific and Guys and Dolls lit up the marquees on the Great White Way.
Quite. When a VIP attends your show, with no indication of wanting the spotlight, you either at one extreme politely thank him for coming, or at the other extreme ignore him. Remember: he came to see _your_ show, he thinks what _you_ do is worthwhile; prove him right that what you do is worthwhile despite your differences. It’s time for the show, not for something that _nobody_ paid good money/time/effort to see.
I contend the correct response to a “no-go zone” is to go there.
Oh man, weren’t you paying attention during the campaign?
Sit it out?
Trump/Pence are there BECAUSE they didn’t sit it out; they didn’t play the usual PR game. They went balls to the walls straight into the fire, and exposed all the hypocrites for what they are.
Pence, my soon to be former Governor, is a good and decent man. A kind and gracious man.
No, your industry only provided further proof as to how just irrelevant, they truly are. They need to get out of their make believe world and stop listening to the propaganda.
I think there’s a difference going into the fire as a VICTOR so soon after battle was won. That’s all.
Thanks learned a bit of “decorum” being around Sully. Air Force Academy cadets will know what I’m referring to.
And yes he is a kind and gracious man. Precisely why he makes many uncomfortable. Just like his LORD and Savior did.
But as Saint Paul said:
“19Though I am free of obligation to anyone, I make myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. 20To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the Law I became like one under the Law (though I myself am not under the Law), to win those under the Law. 21To those without the Law I became like one without the Law (though I am not outside the law of God but am under the law of Christ), to win those without the Law. ” ~ 1st letter to the Corinthians
19 Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All food is clean, but it is wrong for a person to eat anything that causes someone else to stumble. 21 It is better not to eat meat or drink wine or to do anything else that will cause your brother or sister to fall. ~ letter to the Romans
Agreed. I think the left would love it if we act like we’re afraid to show our faces in public, for fear of their ego driven tantrums. Pence did nothing wrong and need not go into hiding.
How about a two word reaction: blank you!!
One friend on FB said that the cast would poop their pants if they knew that Hamilton set up electoral college, that lost Hillary the election!
I believe you are misapplying those verses. I live in CA were it is socially acceptable to abuse people for not being Democrat. The more mistreat is tolerated, the more it spreads. Imagine what life would be like if the left were held to the same standards as everyone else. Tired of Speshul Snowflakes.
Hollywood native here.
I just didn’t see a point in going. It’d be like Hillary showing up to a NASCAR race JUST AFTER the elections! Again...a timing thing.
The leftist are obnoxious boors and the message of the show was lost on them.
Give it more time, and eventually more will eventually be drawn to conservatism, which ideally leads to embracing the Judeo-Christian principles and our Creator God which underpin them.
...
Already far more people identify as Conservative than liberal. It’s been that way for as long as I can remember. The problem is the establishment of both parties, and the corrupt media don’t want anything to do with conservatism. They prefer to be crooked.
We’re fortunate that Trump came out of nowhere as an outsider to run on conservative principles.
Um, “A” battle was won. The war, apparently, is still on.
Good point and we are winning but don’t need to be in enemy territory for now.
Just imagine the lefts reaction if newly elected Obama were told by a Broadway actor that he was untrustworthy, would not protect our countr, etc. That production wwould shut down overnight to the sound of riots, those actors lives would be threatened and the MSM would be recording endless interviews to find out how that ‘latest example of institutional racism’ had further terrorized minorities. You still believe that conceding to them will improve relations. I don’.
Welcome newby, tell us a little about yourself.
Please also tell us why you call Jesus a ‘Palestinian Jew’. Palestine was the Roman name for the area and in all my years, I don’t believe I have ever heard a Christian speak of the Lord in those terms.
Also, have you heard the term ‘concern troll’?
