Post election - I think Hillary is counting on a blanket pardon from Obama before she is charged with anything. That way she can save face and keep her foundation running. If she wins this will be easy and after she is sworn in she can pardon him in the same way. Both save whatever face they can. It's all about the money.
If Trump wins, Hillary can still get a pardon from Obama but will he? She won't be able to return the favor and I'm sure enough will come out to implicate Obama and Trumps new attorney general will be happy to charge him as a private citizen. No pardon coming from Trump. If Hillary loses she will take Obama down with her. So would Obama try and make a deal with Trump? I think he might. Anything to save whatever legacy he can. Question is what deal could he possibly make?
After the release of the noon tape from O'Keefe maybe more will be apparent. Maybe they will replace Hillary with lunchbox Joe.
Whatever happens this has surely been historic and I am so grateful for FreeRepublic. Donate today if you can.

Some pardons would be justified, especially where Progressive Injustice has been done. Scooter Libby is one example.

Can Bath House preemptively pardon someone who has not yet been charged with a federal crime?
I have doubts that he can.

Let’s correct one error that I have seen numerous times on threads where pardons are discussed: The President can issue a pardon for ‘crimes’ that may have been committed so as to prevent charges being filed for said crimes.

I don’t know if the DNC can swap Biden in for H. Maybe the lawyers can comment but I would think that since the ballots have been printed up there is a date beyond which the DNC is stuck with her. I suspect the Wikileaks people know this and so the crescendo of crap they are dumping on her is timed to accelerando (no mixed metaphors) just as that date passes.

Question: Can the President pardon someone for crimes of which they have never been convicted?
To: MomwithHope
like i have said on similar post about pardoning H.rotten it would be an admission of guilt.
Why would obama pardon someone who didn’t commit a crime?

I would bet money that Trump pardons Hillary.
It lets him call her a crook one last time and wash his hands of the Clinton mess.
And, despite my personal disgust with the Clintons, there is no up side to prosecuting them for Trump.

Talked with a flaming liberal relative at a wedding recently. Surprised that she hates Hillary but doesn’t like the idea of Hillary going to prison. I get the feeling that there are a lot like her who are only supporting Hillary because they don’t want her to go to prison. If Trump could come out with some statement along the lines of: “Losing the election for Hillary would be punishment enough.” He would win in a landslide, I believe.

If a President gives a pardon can a following President rescind it, kind of like an Executive order?
