Lucasfilm announced today that Donald Glover, an acclaimed actor, award-winning writer, and Grammy-nominated artist, will be playing the part of Lando Calrissian in the still-untitled Han Solo Star Wars film, helmed by directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Glover will join Alden Ehrenreich previously cast as Han Solo in bringing two iconic Star Wars characters back to the big screen, but at a time in their lives previously unexplored. This new film depicts Lando in his formative years as a scoundrel on the rise in the galaxys underworld years before the events involving Han, Leia, and Darth Vader in The Empire Strikes Back and his rise to Rebel hero in Return of the Jedi.
Were so lucky to have an artist as talented as Donald join us, said Lord and Miller. These are big shoes to fill, and an even bigger cape, and this one fits him perfectly, which will save us money on alterations. Also, wed like to publicly apologize to Donald for ruining Comic-Con for him forever.
Glover is best known for creating and starring in the critically acclaimed FX series Atlanta (which had the highest premiere numbers for any basic cable comedy show since 2013), as well as for starring in four seasons of the show Community, and for his Grammy-nominated album

You may remember this actor as the genius computer programmer in "The Martian" who saved the mission by computing all the trajectories and math and such.
In future Hollywood films, all heroes will either be black, transgender, or gay.
I demand that a white guy play Shaft in the next movie! Diversity! Multiculturalism!
No more Hollywood films for me
Shouldn't Lando be an Armenian?
Technically, none of the people in the Star Wars universe are even human.
I don’t have a problem with this casting. What little I have seen of the guy has shown talent on-screen.
I am wondering what we are going to be given as the young Solo however.
I won't go *quite* that far.Although I haven't set foot in a theater in 10+ years and haven't *purchased* a DVD,Bluray or streamed video in 5 years I *do* borrow (for free,of course) DVDs and Blurays from my public library.
One film that I'll probably borrow when it comes to my library is Hacksaw Ridge, the film about the Army medic that won the Medal of Honor.
Billy Dee Williams played him in the original, so it’s consistent...
"It's Londo, not Lando, you idiot!"
They should use Anthony Ingruber, He did a very convincing impersonation in The Age of Adaline
He has the voice and mannerisms perfect, and a strong facial resemblance.
The thing that worries me is they cast a person not based on their abilities but based on their skin color, sexual habits, sexual preferences, gender and religious convictions....
He was the least believable of the characters, horrible. No wonder Lucas had no blacks in the original.
There will be a lot of work for the white actor that remakes all of Samuel Jackson’s and Morgan Freeman’s roles.
No muslims in Star Wars either.
Just look at commercials past six months
All families are mixed race
I’ts brainwashing
It like the majority of genius scientists/engineers in the movies are black (when they aren't women).
In real life, out of a yearly average of 1,600 computer science PhD's that get awarded, guess how many were awarded to blacks in 2014, despite all affirmative action efforts?
27.
They already cast someone named Alden Ehrenreich as Han Solo. He sort of looks like Harrison Ford.
To be honest, I’m a bit more fired up to see this Han Solo one and Rogue One than the actual saga films. I always dug those filthy bounty hunters and various other people Jabba called “his kind of scum” :-).
While I have to admit that I loved Episode VII, I can’t see them taking the story into any jaw dropping kind of scenario like they did in Empire Strikes Back. These stories like Rogue One and the Han Solo styles of ‘prequels’ can do all sorts of neat stuff (short of killing off Han or Chewbacca or Lando :-) ).
By whom? I have never heard of this person.
One of these things is not like the others.
