LOL

Great “Copy/Paste”.

So often I show up late to see the words causing a deleted post.

Hillary may have been a fountain of rambling accusations, but she certainly didn’t impress anyone other than her cheering squad....

Trump didn’t agressively attack her with the same venom, but wasn’t intimidated by her practiced deceptive subterfuge.....

“So often I show up late to see the words causing a deleted post.”

I guess my posting habits preserved that one. I almost always paste in the comment I’m replying to, when responding to another poster.

Re: You guys are are starving my kids. F^@# you.

A lot of us here, and I've been here a long time, are professionals in one enterprise or another and are only here to help the cause with constructive analysis.

I've spent over two hours reading and writing tonight because I've been writing for video, audio and digital since I was 19 and I'm now 75 but still try to "keep the faith." I was a "street" TV reporter in the late sixties. I know how bad the media is, I really do.

Trump wasn't as good as Clinton tonight, even if he was right, and honest and good. I don't think he will lose, either. I'm a local campaign worker this election cycle and I've never witnessed such vigor and pride in the local Republican party in my part of Michigan. As another point, I've shot a few rabbits in my life and a 12 guage IS better!

Will the posting of your thesis bolster Trump's chances, or will it merely satisfy the demands of your ego?

After tonight's performance by Donald Trump with an utter disregard of irony you accuse me of an ego problem. This afternoon I published this reply which should tell you where I thought the race was, what I thought Trump had to do to win. After you read this I think you will have to admit that I did not go into this debate with an anti-Trump attitude. I wanted him to win and I still want him to win but I'm not going to deceive those who read my replies and I am certainly not going to deceive myself about what occurred on the debate stage tonight.

Here is that reply from earlier today:

I believe that the performance of a candidate in a debate should be judged on whether or not he advances his candidacy. That judgment supposes a clear understanding of what will accomplish that objective. That understanding has radically changed in the last days.

Until some time ago the odds were firmly with Hillary to win the election because Trump was in the unenviable position of being required to run the board of battleground states in order to prevail. Therefore under that state of the race, Trump must "win" the debate in order to get a new deal of the electoral college cards. Under those circumstances, Hillary needed only to muddle through and bank on Donald to simply disqualify himself or, if Trump somehow managed to escape whole, Hillary could count on her huge air game and the standard Democrat ground game to pick off one or two states and finish Donald Trump off.

The polls which have come out in recent days and even this morning make it clear that the momentum is with Trump and that Hillary must "win" the debate or watch her numbers diminish every day on the electoral map. Unless something changes the direction, Trump's momentum will carry him to victory. Therefore, Hillary must use the debate tonight to stop Trump's momentum.

Clearly both sides understand this dynamic but that does not mean the Trump by his nature will hold back. The question is will Trump moderate tone and concede the odd issue knowing that the burden is on Hillary to really win the debate not just to score a few points. The next question is, will Hillary become even more strident and unattractive as she desperately tries to bring Trump down?

This is not to say that this inversion of roles in the debates will by any means be dispositive but it does say that the real advantage lies with Trump.

Finally, most Americans are not really interested in Hillary's encyclopedic knowledge of arcane politics, they already know they dislike Hillary, they have viscerally dislike her for decades, they just want to know if it is safe to vote for Donald Trump. This dynamic makes it even more difficult for Hillary to accomplish what is necessary to advance her candidacy. She has the burden to kill off Trump in the debate but she cannot do so by being aggressive because that is precisely part of the reason why she is hated.

How can Hillary conceivably do it? Unless Trump commits a world-class gaffe, she cannot hope to do it. The odds are with Trump.

When Trump had 100 million people watching him, many of them eager to believe he had the temperament to be president, he betrayed once again that he (not I or any other messenger) is run by his own ego.

Tonight's misfire does not mean that the election was lost but it might mean Trump's momentum is stalled. If that is the case he is back playing on a game board in which he must run all of the critical battleground states. A daunting challenge.

It was all so unnecessary.

as 11th_VA points out though, the next debates won’t have as many watchers.

“People who call other people “Cruzlims” are idiots.”

You called the whole Freeper community a bunch of f’ing idiots in your first reply, dolt.

I merely returned fire on that slur. Now you’re butthurt on top of butthurt. You’re a mess.

Seemed to me, as well, to be a draw. She did a lot better than I thought she would, and he did not do as well as I had hoped.

Not quite.

Is Cruz a better debater? Of course, I don’t think that is even a serious question.

But you are overlooking something critical: this is an outsider vs. the ultimate insider - Cruz could never be the outsider, and had other vulnerabilities...not the least of which is that he comes off as both arrogant and smarmy. Trump has run many businesses and knows how to create jobs - whereas, Cruz has about the same experience as Clinton in this regard.

I will tell you that I donated to his campaign when he declared last March, and I have voted for him for Senate (and likely will again). However, Trump won me over and Cruz lost me. It was too early for him.

More to the point, the primaries are OVER. We are now facing a binary choice - Trump or Clinton. Playing the “woulda, shoulda, coulda” game is not merely pointless, it detracts from what should be our primary goal, defeating Clinton.

Ego? Nothing to do with ego. That's a misread. Trump's a passionate fighter and not some pussy like Mitt Romney. Hillary went out there with all lies a blazing.

If the country wants some metrosexual limp wrister as their president then we are lost as a country.

By your logic we are to cheerfully sacrifice the country to Donald Trump's passions.

I facepalmed so hard at what you wrote.

Sacrifice? How do you even come up with that?

then we are lost as a country.

How, according to you, would we be lost?

If the country wants some metrosexual limp wrister

And why does Trump fail to deliver the right "temperament?"

Because he is "passionate."

Hence better that Trump indulges his passions and loses the country than exhibits presidential temperament and wins the election and saves the country.
