We are staring into the abyss of a Trump presidency and many people are to blame [BOO HOO ALERT]
National Post ^ | Sept. 17, 2016 | Andrew Coyne

Posted on 09/17/2016 7:12:38 AM PDT by rickmichaels

A month ago, Donald Trump stood seven points back of Hillary Clinton in the polls. State-by-state projections gave Clinton as much as two-thirds of the electoral college. Today, an average of recent surveys puts Trump just one point behind; the electoral college is similarly up for grabs.

What once seemed impossible — that Trump could win — is now a very real possibility: roughly two in five, according to the oddsmakers. We are staring into the abyss of a Trump presidency, and all that that would represent, for America and the world.

That it is even close is something of a calamity, a victory for all that is dark and barbaric in the American character. A narrow Trump loss — at this point the most likely result — would confirm his malign influence in Republican circles, opening the party to years of debilitating internal conflict. Perhaps Trumpism would not survive him; perhaps it would.

The election is still weeks away, of course, and much can happen between now and then. But it’s never too early to start laying blame.

Who should we fault for this disaster? Should we blame his enablers in the Republican party? But which ones? The aging opportunists like Newt Gingrich or Rudy Giuliani, who see in Trump their last chance at power and can’t be bothered to worry about what he represents? Or the equivocators, the odds-checkers, once-respected figures like Paul Ryan or Marco Rubio, who know that Trump is the death of everything they claim to care about but sign on anyway, though only after weeks of contemptible public agonizing — as if the choice were truly difficult? As if they were not weak men following their desires, but good men trying to do right? As if their eventual decision were ever in doubt?

“a victory for all that is dark and barbaric in the American character.”

These people are full of themselves and quite blinkered when it comes to Hillary Clinton.

When their reaction is not “how can we win?”, but is instead “Who should we fault for this disaster?”, they have given up hope. Yay!

STOP THE HATE! We only seek “tolerance.” “Diversity” is our strength.

The tone of the article is demagoguery at its worst. Fomenting hatred and encouraging/justifying violence against Traditional Values Americans.

Folks, they dont want “tolerance” they dont want “diversity” they dont want “equality”. They want you and me DEAD!

Wow! I’m not only deplorable, I’m now `dark and barbaric’, too.

Lessee, where did I park my AR-15?

“...would confirm his malign influence in Republican circles, opening the party to years of debilitating internal conflict. Perhaps Trumpism would not survive him; perhaps it would. “

I think more than a few would be happy if the Republican party as it exist today does go the way of the Whigs.

At some point in time the elite leaders of the party became secret Democrats but did not inform the the general membership of the party, continued to accept money and support. Yet, when the people gave them Congress with a mandate to stop or at least slow down Obama they did nothing.

They were exposed when Trump came on the scene and began to say things the American people wanted to hear, and rather than fall in line in support of Trump. The Republican party sided with the Democrats and attempted to destroy him.

So yes, Republican party needs to close up shop or simply be honest and call themselves Democrat Lite.

"all that is dark and barbarian in the American character"

"sounds racis'"

It's totally deplorable. He tears into black Americans and as if that wasn't enough implicitly micro proxy aggresses against Goths, Vandals, Herules, Sueves, Saxons, Gepids, as well as Sarmatians, Alans, Huns, Avars, Picts, Carpi and Isaurians.

This author misses ALL the clues...

The only people who want a Trump presidency are THE PEOPLE.

Keep crying, Canuck, and we’ll have to build a dam across our northern border just to hold back your tears. The minor blame he has for the Democrats is for crying fascist and racist even against milquetoast Republicans that the words have been exhausted.

National Post is Canadian as is Andrew Coyne (b. 12/23/1960). This is the battle whimper of the uniparty Establishment which fears the outsider. I weep bitter tears for his angst! If he had been around at the time, he probably would have said the same about Ronald Reagan.

Obviously this loony author thinks everything in our country is just fine and dandy: rampant racism, trillions of dollars in never-to-be-paid debt, employment at an all-time low, billions upon billions of dollars being sent to countries who hate us and want us dead, no more respect from any other country in the world, the most dishonest, corrupt government EVER, murderous middle easterners spreading their poison throughout this land, etc., etc., etc. What a Utopia. I can’t imagine why any of us would want to change all that.

What might help is that many Trump supporters are reticent about the fact that they’re voting for him. They could under-estimate the amount of fraud they need.

We looked over into the TOILET HOLE of the very prospect of
a HILLARY CLINTON Presidency; and up side of her as
Commander-in-Chief with BILL CLINTON as “First Laddie”,
DONALD J. TRUMP ABYSS looked wonderful!

God willing, I AM VOTING TRUMP!!!

Dear Andrew:

How horribly wrong you are in your bias that you can’t even see what has happened. Your hatred against anything not liberal. The cause of your, and your party’s problems is Hillary and her evil coupled with 8 years of Obama criminality blinds you in a latte foam.

You all delighted in Hillary and Obama flouting our laws and Constitution. You reveled in the excess and opulence that this Rainbow Whitehouse meant with all its hatred of traditional America and anybody not “of color” or Muslim or ‘refugee’.

All the while you partied in the “stick it to whitey Christian going’s on” but you didn’t even feel the deep rumbles that sprang from the bowels of America, DRIVE-BY AMERICA, asshole. That swell is akin to an earthquake in the deepest part of any ocean that goes unnoticed at first yet as it nears land and shallower parts, builds to a terrible tsunami of retribution and justice that will drench the likes of all you come election day.

I look forward to your effing suicide note on November 9, you asswipe.

Creative wordsmith ing, that’s all it is.

Trump supporters know the facts. Trump has made himself heard at many, many rallies. We know the truth.

Journalists think their words will change the tide, but it’s just speculation of a result they are desperate for to happen.
