These are the blueprints and they’re very, very strange.

Escher was my first response.

After that came "how do we find the kids?"

Hudson Yards' Public Square and Gardens, five acres of gardens and public plazas that will connect Hudson Yards to the High Line.

Could someone from NYC translate this?

This actually sounds like an interesting and somewhat original idea.

Yes, it could be that and so much more.
Where architecture and installation art blend?
The underlying form, the work of the structural engineers and many others has a beauty of it's own, that amplifies the visible work.

That said, this work is at odds with so many of the beliefs that prevail within our society.
You have to walk up that thing?
Unsafe, unstructured, unsupervised...
Fails to pay homage to this group or that group...
The cost is crazy. With 200MM we could save...

Should it actually be built, and you make a visit, you will see a 'closed' sign and monument to graffiti and human slothfulness.

Not that bad, I hope?

Should it be completed, my guess is, it would be like the Stonehenge work from Spinal Tap; in many ways.

I did enjoy your “IT WAS A BIT LIKE THE GARDEN OF EDEN!” find! From your homepage.

One question? Is the ticket box next to the gift shop and concession stand?

IMO, should it actually be constructed, the hoi polloi will only enter if they are on the cleaning crew.

Therefore, all sales kiosks need to be in a 'lesser' area.

Yes.

And I have been around ‘developers’.

Not at all unusual, is a clause that calls for a percentage of total spending to be earmarked for ‘public art’.

Often this is a way to buy off certain groups; put them on the art selection committee...
Sometimes the results are very nice.
Itasca Illinois, Westin Hotel building, a series of bas-relief sculptures in the brick work, made from the same clay as the bricks , very nice. So nice, I should stop by some day for a walk and another look.

On the other side of the coin and not so far south in Addison Illinois, a public building, the design was selected by a juried commision.
Now I’m not concerned with the exterior, a box is a box.
It is said,’the gods dwell in the details’ (FLR).

This jamoke would not spot a detail if it bit him, and many did come back, to bite!

He all but disappeared about half way through the project.

Errors and omission insurance? Never brought up, you could get hurt.

The selected architect was a very recent graduate, who received a 10% commision!! You may pay 10% on a nice home, but nobody pays that for a commercial box that cost over $10MM!!!

I never heard for certain, most thought he was a son in law???
