Vessel, the Heatherwick Studio-designed structure that will rise 150 feet over 30th Street in Hudson Yards' public square, was revealed today at a press conference on the West Side. The interior of the ambitious work features 154 interconnected flights of stairs as well as 80 landings where people can pause to make life-changing Instagrams. Dear Lord, I am ready when you want to take me home.
Oh noes... parents with kids are going to find their kids climbing up and up and up these stairs while puffing and panting way behind them.
The inventor didn’t realize this?
If not, call the ACLU !

He cashed the commission check, his work is done.
From the article... "will be paid for by Hudson Yards developers the Related Company".
And don’t forget the Mayors Office for People with Disabilities (MOPD) and UNITED STATES ACCESS BOARD and...
Stairs are just an organized hill.
I will be climbing every one of those stairs when it opens. Then I will walk the nearby High Line to cool off.
This actually sounds like an interesting and somewhat original idea. It will be very expensive and must be structurally sound. I agree with other posters that the artist would be wise to install elevators or something to make it accessible by wheelchair bound and fragile ambulators. I hope it doesn’t take the “easy” way out and become an exhibition of sleaze, just to get attention.
You believe, if this was not some gov requirement, it would be built?
They are developers!
Its not their job to be giving out ‘free stuff’.
Their job is to make money.
An impediment for the disabled.
The Great Escher only created in two dimensions, vs 3 or 4 like this new project.
NICE!
Mr Escher should receive a percentage.
One question? Is the ticket box next to the gift shop and concession stand?
Oh, another question. WHY???
I think Hillary should have her next rally there.
You do understand that Hudson Yards was (and I believe still is) owned by the City of NY and that the private developers agreed to a deal with the land owners, Right!?
I suspect that production companies will want to film there. Everything from commercials to large budget motion pictures.
