49ers preparing to put Colin Kaepernick ‘on ice’ in 2016?

At least two prominent NFL reporters believe the San Francisco 49ers could pull a RG3 on quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who could be protected in 2016 so the 49ers can save millions against injuries guarantees next offseason.

Albert Breer of MMQB became the latest national reporter to weigh in on Kaepernick Thursday morning.

“Colin Kaepernick’s injury history, combined with the heavy injury guarantees in his contract, would be a motivator to put him on ice for the year if the team isn’t sold he’ll rebound in Chip Kelly’s offense,” Breer wrote. “The Redskins pulled something similar last year—they knew Robert Griffin III wasn’t their guy, so they didn’t risk putting him on the field and triggering his 2016 injury guarantee.”

Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk openly wondered the same idea on Monday.

“Absent a trade or a willingness to pay Kaepernick a lot of money to go away, the 49ers have the RGIII option at their disposal,” Florio said. “That would entail putting Kaepernick on the bench and keeping him in bubble wrap so that, come 2017, they won’t be strapped with a fully-guaranteed $14.5 million obligation that can’t be avoided before April 1 if he’s injured, again.”

Unless Chip Kelly fully believes in Kaepernick moving forward (and that’s a debatable premise, given his current standing in a starting battle with Blaine Gabbert, of all quarterbacks), the 49ers could protect themselves by shelving the former second-round pick as a third-stringer and then cutting Kaepernick before his $14.5 million becomes fully guaranteed on April 1st of 2017. Of course, if he’s injured at that time, the 49ers won’t have the option.

The Redskins played the same card on RG3 last season. After he suffered a concussion during the preseason, Washington all but shut down his season—stashing him behind Kirk Cousins and Colt McCoy to protect him from another injury. His healthy season allowed the Redskins to part ways without the financial repercussions of his fifth-year, injury-guaranteed salary kicking in.

A tricky balancing act awaits the 49ers over the next few weeks. Kaepernick has been out while dealing with a “dead arm” issue, which has robbed Kelly and his staff of valuable time in the evaluation process. At some point soon, the 49ers will need to decide if Kaepernick is worth risking during the 2016 season. Then again, the franchise has 14,500,000 million reasons to stash him on the bench and set up a clean divorce next offseason.

I say let Kaepernick play. Let him play every down. Let him play every down with no blockers. Let's see how long he will stand on his principles. The money is coming anyway so let him earn every penny the hard way.

1. Half his body is covered in Christian tattoos. Hope it hurts when he has to replace them with muzzy ones.
2.Will Jaguar and Nike keep him on?

====================================

He's no more a Muslim than Willard Mitt Romney is.
He's just an incredibly stupid, immature, idiotic, thick-headed moron who hasn't grown up yet.

Jaguar and Nike will keep him on until they start losing money. THEN, he'll be dumped like a hot potato...and will blame his demise on racism.
Have I got it right?

His PARENTS are probably to blame for spoiling him rotten.

Here are some of the muzzy’s Christian tattoos:

“His right arm features a scroll with the Bible verse Psalm 18:39 written on it. Tattooed under the scroll are praying hands with the phrase “To God The Glory” written on them. To the left of both the scroll and praying hands is the word “Faith” written vertically. His left arm features a Christian cross with the words “Heaven Sent” on it referring to Jesus. Written above and below the cross is the phrase “GOD WILL GUIDE ME”. Written to the left and right of the cross is the Bible verse Psalm 27:3. His chest features the phrase “Against All Odds” and artwork around it that represents “inner strength, spiritual growth, and humility”. His back features a mural of angels against demons... Kaepernick’s signature touchdown celebration earned him a photo fad by his namesake, called “Kaepernicking”. The signature touchdown pose involves flexing and kissing the bicep of his right arm. Kaepernick says he kisses his “Faith”, “To God The Glory”, and Psalm 18:39 tattoos and the reason he does the celebration is because “...it’s my way of saying I don’t really care what people think about my tattoos” and “God has brought me this far. He has laid out a phenomenal path for me. And I can’t do anything but thank Him.”

It’s going to take some time to cover all those up for his cleric.

Every time he walks onto the field the fans should turn their back on him.

In protest of course.

Except the NFL has already given him a free pass by saying it’s his freedom of expression not to stand.

I would play him, but have the linemen not protect him after the center gives him the ball.

If I was one of his OL, I'd be telling my opposite on the DL that the path is clear.........play after play after play.........

No doubt.
The fans aren't going to give him no stinkin' pass. They will let THEIR opinion of his "freedom of expression" be known by their OWN "freedom of expression."
He won't last.

Allah will “forgive” the youthful indiscretions (christian tattoos) as long as Colin keeps writing out big fat donation checks to The Brotherhood. Sort of a rich man’s Dihmnitude.

As far as this long-time 49ers fan is concerned — If he likes sitting on the bench so much, he can sit there every game, the entire game, for the rest of his time with the team. (And may that time be as short as possible.)

The target: Osama bin Laden.
I got so I could NAIL OBL's beard nine times out of ten from twenty feet.

It’s amazing to me these ‘nothing’ people who are all of a sudden the public focus.

Look no farther than the Kardashians to realize what a train wreck that can lead to.

You go in a man, are exposed to the Kardash-o-matic, and come out a whatever...

Ah, no thanks.

Surely, as a rich muslim bf, he could buy her some clothes that fit. Or maybe he and her muzzy family and cleric approve of her displaying her wares for all to see. Where exactly is this in the Koran?
