Loretta Lynn - Coal Miner's Daughter.1971
Good timing. I’m just listening to this due to influence from an old Jack Carson Show podcast.
Bob Wills And His Texas Playboys - Cotton Eyed Joe
I know Loretta Lynn is getting up in years but Trump should have her join him at some of the events in and around coal country. Would be a big hit if she sang this song there!!
I like the other daughter Crystal better.
Amazing to think about this in today’s environment. How Loretta’s background lead to her great musical career, lead to the creaetion of this song, it lead to a movie and lots of money and roles for many people. One little thing - coal, did all that. And our so-called “leaders” want to throw it all away. (This is just one story out of many)
Crystal has a beautiful voice, but I don’t like her fake-y delivery, sorta like Cher in making up her own language. Donuh mamuh bowna boo. Ick.
I am seeing Loretta tonight at the Ridgefield Playhouse in CT. Very excited to see the legend!
I literally married a coal miners daughter in 1971, from Virginia.
We had a chance to see Loretta several years ago and was very disappointed. She brought her two daughters along and most of the show was trying to pimp them into stardom.
We still love Loretta, but have zero use for her daughters.
The door opened behind me and this cute little gal in a cowgirl outfit stepped up beside me. Out of the corner of my eye, there was no doubt, it was Loretta Lynn! I didn't say anything and tried not to be obnoxious. Finally she turned to me and said, "Hey, ain't ya gonna say hello?"
I burst out laughing and so did she, I said I just didn't want to bother her but that it was a thrill to be standing here with her. She said it bothered her more when I didn't speak to her!
We had a nice chat and a big limo pulled up (she was singing at Gilly's that night). I said, "well, here's my ride" ... and she smiled and said, "no sir, I believe that yellow one behind this big one is yours". What a thrill, funny how you can go back and pick out 3 minutes of time so clearly out of all the years of minutes.
My favorite singer has always been Willie Nelson. I fell for him back about 1950. I was at Houston Airport about 30 years ago and I saw a man from the back and I was sure it was Willie. Long red ponytail, bandana, guitar case, had to be him.
I stood there wanting to tell him how long I had been a fan but I was too shy to approach him. He walked away, I missed my chance.
It also helps that Loretta Lynn is a Trump supporter. Take that Cher!
If y’all haven’t seen it, the movie is GREAT !
She’ll be at Gruene Hall soon.
