Target is launching a first-of-its-kind one-day sale to try and boost back-to-school shopper traffic amid a boycott over its bathroom policy. The retailer is offering a 10% discount on everything in its stores and online on Sunday. Target is calling the event #TargetRunDay.
It marks the first time Target has ever offered a 10% discount both in stores and on its website. The sale comes after Target last week reported its first quarterly traffic decline in more than two years.
This is what happens when you blindly hop on the social-justice bandwagon without consulting your customers, understanding their mores, or giving a damn about what they think. .....
Target's same-store transactions, which is how traffic is measured, fell 2.2% in the second quarter. Overall, sales fell 7.2% to $16.2 billion. "In the second quarter, our No. 1 challenge was traffic, which affected sales in all of our merchandise categories," Target CEO Brian Cornell said last week on a call with analysts.
Shopper traffic is falling amid a boycott over Target's new policy, announced earlier this year, that welcomes customers to use any bathroom or fitting room that matches their gender identity. The announcement triggered an immediate backlash. Critics said the policy opened the door for sexual predators to victimize women and children inside the retailer's bathrooms, and more than 1.4 million people signed a pledge to stop shopping at Target unless it reversed the policy.

i am not your customer anymore, Target. You went out of your way to make me feel unsafe in your store.
I don’t get it.
The LGBTwhatever is a small minority. Why risk your customer base to accommodate the minority?
Target doesn’t believe children deserve “Safe Spaces” but men in women’s panties do.
Not a wise company policy when your sales and bottom line depend on families who spend $$$$$$.
This means nothing. They haven’t jettisoned the ceo and haven’t reversed the policy.
This is half assing a non apology.
They are signaling to their regular customers (whom they thought shared their own progressive views and values) how hip (urban dictionary definition) they are with the current in-crowd. Starting with their two female and a child family Christmas advertisement a few years back.
If you can hold out a little longer, their ‘going out of business’ discounts will be much greater.
I am very depressed because of the fact that I cannot boycott Target, since I don’t shop there. A few times, if I couldn’t find something that I really wanted, I have tried Target, but I have never found anything that I wanted there. May they rot in Hell.

I must have missed that advertisement. But that isn’t unusual since I don’t watch a lot of tv.
If Target is trying to be “hip” they are looney as toons. It’s not like they are Whole Foods or some such.
Forget the one day b s sale. Fire the insane management and get the men out of the little girls’ room.
As I was reading the comments it came to mind on how a word of mouth boycott campaign has driven down Target’s sales by 2 %? It is not Amazon causing the pain, it is middle America fed up with behavior that they don’t agree with. These are the same people out there who are ready to vote for Trump. They are sick of PC, they are sick of the moral corruption in America, they are sick of working hard and paying taxes so so illegals o00r radical muslim can sit on the sofa all day watching TV, sick of being told they are insensitive, sick of Washington elite telling them they are low educated voters. There is a massive voter eruption coming. Target was the first signal that it will take down Washington and Hillary.
What’s that 16-17% valuation drop. Enough to make a shareholder go to sex of the mind Target bathroom and throw up. Whether Target spend $20,000,000 on single use bathroom won’t cure the problem. Their customer were insulted, left and are gone for good. Stupid CEO.
It was down to $66.74/share back on 14JUN2016. I’m willing to bet that Target will become the next JC Penny’s.
Even better would be to go into what used to be the women’s room and piss on the seats, and of course be sure to leave them down. That should test the resolve of all the progressive feminists that still shop there.
