A young Acton Municipal Utility District worker has become a viral sensation after an image of him submerged in a puddle from a busted pipeline was shared around the country. ...
Jimmie Cox, 23, was spotted by a Hood County woman last week working in her front yard to clamp a one-inch pipe that had burst. Andrea Adams' photo shows Cox lying on the ground face-down, with his head and chest completely underwater as he tried to fix the broken pipe.

An American, doing American stuff.
Probably violates many, many OSHA rules.
Almost surprising, now that you bring it up!
To see this in the news without some weird slant.
Politicians won’t walk out from under a large umbrella - held by someone else - and yet they make somewhere in the order of 100 times what this man does.
Not to mention EPA laws and city ordinances either.
“Probably violates many, many OSHA rules.”
I’d think that breathing and seeing are pretty high on the list of OSHA requirements.
I did something similar installing a dock in a much bottom lake. Took a deep breath and went head first into three feet of muck.
Gotta do what you gotta do.
Just another Texan. It’s the way we roll.
Our motto is “What Ever!”.
What ever it takes to get the job done.
Lived in Texas, had a Texas driver's license, make no claims to being a Texan.
That said, I agree with you 100%. Something special about the place and people.
“Just another Texan. Its the way we roll. Our motto is What Ever!. What ever it takes to get the job done.”
And yet half of Texas road signs are for work comp lawyers parasites. And half of downtown Dallas is law firms.
For later.

Wouldn’t surprise me one bit if the water company gets fined heavily for bad training, not providing protective gear, worker not following established work rules, endangering lives of others, etc. He’ll probably get fired, too.
Damn straight!
A full body harness, safety retrieval unit tripod with winch.
Safety person on the winch, safety person outside of the dangerous immediate work area.
An O2 sensor in the hole?
Are those proper safety shoes?
Long sleeve shirt?
Safety gloves?
Beard mask and hairnet!
Don’t forget the life jacket.
Hard to tell if he has a hard hat and safety glasses on?
Proper lighting?
Not shown is a TSA (task safety analysis)or confined entry permit posted near the work area...
Truth.
Stop on by if you have the time.
I was in rubber boots standing in 6" of water, while an ejector pump kept up with what was coming in, while I was welding the patch over the leak.
Stacked 3-4 pallets up to lay on to weld underneath. Every time I touched either the pipe or the wall of the vault...tzzzzzzzt.
That was a LOOOOOOOONG 2 hours that it took to weld the patch.
Get-r-done
Got-r-did
I’ve been through 29 CFR 1926. Nothing about dunking in a mud puddle. General Duty Clause maybe. My refresher course is next week so maybe I missed it.
But in all seriousness municipal workers are often exempt from OSHA. That’s why lots of them get killed in trench collapses, machinery accidents and confined spaces. They aren’t afforded the safety training that private industry is required to provide.
Hope he doesn’t get fired for doing a good deed as so many Americans do
