Yup, those were my thoughts as well.

I’d definitely reball with lead bearing solder.

Damned EU solder-free regulations have left us with this mess.

Just need a good dose of EMP to burn those micro-whiskers away! ;-)

I can see that perhaps for a celebrity it might be necessary to add the correct pronunciation to Siri's data base so that Siri will ALWAYS pronounce "Bar-BRA" and not say "Bar-Bar-ah" in the normal way it is usually pronounced, but it is not a big deal.

As an Apple propagandist, you probably know that it was her last name, not her first name, that she was whining about.

No, I didn't, because it wasn't worth reading the article. The rules of English pronunciation should have covered it. "Streisand" . . . "ei" sounds as "Aye" when the "i" is last and "ie" sounds as "eee" when the "e" is last in the sequence. What's the problem? And again, if Barbra did like how Siri said her name, she could just tell her how she wanted it pronounced. That is a feature of Siri.

I just tried Siri on the paragraph above and as far as I can tell, Siri pronounced "Streisand" and "Barbra" correctly as they were spelled. Again, what is the problem? Is she now trying to change her name ala Prince to some symbol?

Well, you probably need to tell Cook so he can tell her. Her compliant is that it sounds to her like Streizand instead of Streisand. Maybe it is repeating what it hears coming through her nose.

30gpm, so they told me. They never tried to teach us to build equipment, just maybe how to do antennas. I never had to do anything more in-depth than calibrate a couple racks of R-390s and unstick the keys on a manual typewriter.

I've listened to Siri say Streisand four times, and I don't hear a "Z" sound. I think what you have here is a narcissistic Liberal demanding something be changed that only she can hear and Cook agreeing to change it to make her Zhut up.

My 6+ had audio issues (mostly related to recording video or voice) where sound would go from normal to a loud “white noise”.

It finally got consistent enough that I took it in to Apple Store/Genius Bar.

they tried to diagnose and got nowhere with it after running some kind of diagnostic test. It worked when I walked out of the store - but the issue returned with a vengeance literally 5 minutes after I left - so went back in - they fixed it at no cost (had to replace the entire screen assembly - though there wasn’t an issue with the screen) - the microphone that was causing the issue is part of that assembly.

The phone’s warranty literally was up the day before...

BUT - with the repair came an intermittent issue - the phone will at random become totally unresponsive to touch. The buttons for volume and sleep still work as usual- but touching or doing anything ON the screen does nothing. This may last for just a few seconds, or can actually last for several minutes (can’t even answer calls). BUT - if you press the sleep button, then wake the phone right back up - it works properly again.

But this is so intermittent that it can’t be diagnosed/reproduced.

I always scratch my head when I read this sort of article, where there is delicate highly specialized repair, it is common enough to get worldwide attention, yet there is no clue as to the cost of the fix!

Obviously it must be less than the cost of a new phone, but anything over 25% would be a game changer for me!

I try to imagine a $1500 desktop PC needing a $350 repair after a few months regardless of the cause

WE can thank the radical over-the-top Enviro-Nazi nutbags for requiring lead-free solder.....

As someone who IS experiencing the intermittent unresponsive touch on my iphone 6+ (started after Apple Store replaced the screen for a defective microphone - covered under warranty that is now expired) - and I cannot get it to consistently demonstrate the touch issue for an Apple tech - so no help there...

And the Apple user forum is on fire with folks chiming in with identical symptoms (the grey bands on the upper part of screen apparently may or may not be directly related.... many of the reports do not include the display issue - just the intermittent touch problem).

Then I just read this: http://www.reuters.com/article/us-apple-lawsuit-touchscreens-idUSKCN1141OJ

And this: http://www.macrumors.com/2016/08/29/iphone-6-touch-disease-class-action-lawsuit/

Further - it is not 100% limited to iPhone 6+, as there are more than a few iPhone 6 users posting with the same issue (though it does appear to be mostly 6+ owners).

I do believe this rises to a case of legitimate concern - Apple SHOULD do something constructive - as a class action lawsuit will likely best-case get an iTunes store credit of $5 or 10.... while the attorneys will rake in $millions.

Come on Apple -

(Swordmaker - I would have sent you a freepmail - but I’m still apparently still “account too new”....)
