But it isn’t going to be domed like Friso ISD’s 12,000 seat stadium. Plano’s over 14,000 with their old stadium, and the new one is under 10,000. Neither is competitive with Frisco, Allen, or the one planned for McKinney.
The current McKinney stadium is a paltry 7000 seater.
HS Football is a lifestyle in texas as being the flattest most boring state (been to 49 states and 36 countries) on the planet there is absolutely nothing else to do. And there are few areas you can name that I haven’t visited in Texas much less worked at north, south, east or west.
It’s Texas.
You’re probably too low on that number. When Notre Dame and Denver built lacrosse-only stadiums that seat about 2,500 in permanent seats it cost about $5-6 million to build each. And those are hardly luxury stadiums. It’s not as simple as it looks.
Don’t forget you are also building dressing rooms, coaching offices, etc., plus concession areas.
Flat except for the Hill Country outside Austin and a few mountains in far west TX. From Dallas west it’s browner than southern California, too.
I remember back as a young kid in the early 70's racing go-karts in their large parking lot, that would before they gated and fenced it ruining the fun in the off season.
Plano ISD is spending more than that on a new auditorium.
The high school my kids attended was rebuilt a few years back for ONLY $197 million.

I would bet good money that within 10 years the city will want to build a similar sized stadium and will ask tax payers for the money to do so.
Doesn't sound like you've ever been to Texas. Elevations range from sea level to 8,751 feet.
I’d say the flattest state in the country is more likely to be mountain-less Florida than Texas. There’s nothing to do here, either, and the rage isn’t high school football. It’s college football. It’s like they say, the NFL consists of three divisions: the AFC, the NFC, and the SEC.
Last season I was web searching for how many colleges had indoor stadiums and then wondered how long it would take for high schools to play indoors. I then found the Frisco ISD story. So now I wonder how long before a high school builds their own indoor stadium that isn’t a shared with others. When it eventually does, it probably will be in Texas.
Texas Hill Country isn't flat...has some nice houses too.
I noted Hill Country in my reply. Sort of tells you that hills are noteworthy that they even call it Hill Country, though.
True. I think Frisco was quite smart. They get a state-of-the-art faciliy for what amounts as a bargain basement cost.
Outrageous how districts put sports above education and tax payers play right into it. Our grandson was a football player all through school and last year they decided to build a state-of-the-art stadium at a cost of 17 million dollars. They said it would bring in playoffs from other school districts.....it’ll be great they said......it would benefit the district they said......blah, blah, blah. So far I ain’t seen nuttin’......(doin’ a Bronx cheer here).
It makes the new (2011) Linn-Mar football stadium—which seats 6,000 and reportedly cost about $10 million—look like an exercise in frugality.
The mckinny stadium is going to be used by all 4 mckinny high schools as their Home stadium. Unlike allan.
I note they blame the cost of concrete, and indicate a construction boom being the culprit raising the costs by 11%, or seven million dollars.
Does anybody else besides myself remember an article about the Clinton Foundation, a major donor, the purchase of a mine in some country I forget which that the product mined is involved in the manufacture of concrete, and the price of concrete skyrocketing upon that purchase, and donation to the Clinton Foundation? Something to do with Haiti, but I can’t remember the whole scenario.
