“The mckinny stadium is going to be used by all 4 mckinny high schools as their Home stadium. Unlike allan.”

How many high school football tickets do you have to sell to pay off a $70,000,000 loan?

It isn’t just tickets, you get to sell advertising, broadcast rights, and personal boxes. Think big!

Up until about 1990, the Texas State Constitution only allowed people who pay property taxes to vote in the bond elections. It makes great sense but wasn’t enforced and eventually the requirement was dropped from the Constitution.
Probably due to threats from the Federales.

This thing is absolutely ridiculous. It makes the new (2011) Linn-Mar football stadium—which seats 6,000 and reportedly cost about $10 million—look like an exercise in frugality.

I would trust it if it were a capitalist decision but since it's the government, NO WAY! Even if said government put it to a vote I wouldn't trust the wording used to persuade the voters.

The founding fathers originally wanted only property owners to be able to vote.

And Arlington wants $1B to build a new home for the Texas Rangers. The current (formerly The Ballpark in Arlington) is what, 20 years old? Too hot in summer for the fans.

Jerry has the Boss Hawg Bowl, just down the road, and now the Rangers will have their own air conditioned facility. Yeah, it is hot here in summer, but I’ll never set foot inside anything over there. I went to Cowpie Stadium once, to attend Chris Kyle’s memorial service. Parking was free that day, guess Jerry thought that was wise.

Hear, hear! Furthermore, I would be shocked SHOCKED I TELL YA if an overblown project like this didn't have taxpayer money flowing to favored contractors and cronies, only to have sizeable donations show up in elected decision makers' campaign coffers.

It's the way of the world.

More reason to swear off politics for good come November 9th. Let it burn.

Yours is different. I'll still vote. But I won't spend any more time or money on candidates and "patriotic" causes. Depending on what happens on November 8, of course.

I know certain preachers who say Christians should not even be involved in politics.

Oh, definitely. Many of our dearest brothers hold to a conviction that we shouldn't vote. So far, I still think they're wrong.

McKinney’s current stadium was built when they were a small town with a small high school. They now have 3 high schools with more to come. Population is about 130k but by the time McKinney is built out, it will be well over half a million. There will be more high schools by then with a much larger student population. If they build this one to last, this might be a decent investment. But the location is questionable since it is on the southern tip of the city and the growth is happening on the north-western part of town.

Stupid Democratic politicians, stupid liberal voters.

This is McKinney we're talking about. Collin County. One of the most conservative areas in the state.

I live in Allen, 5 miles south of where McKinney is building this complex. I am kind of surprised that they are only getting 12,000 sets for their 70 mil — we got 18,000 seats for 60 mil.

And we got more than just a stadium. There's a lot of other stuff at that site.

What about Memorial High School (Memorial at Dairy-Ashford). That’s pretty big - and it was build over 25-30 years ago.

Biggest in Texas (not counting Toyota Stadium in Frisco) is Memorial Stadium in Mesquite. Built in 1976. Seats 20k.

This has to be Allen.

Nope. McKinney. Our neighbors to the north.

They might as well play at AT&T.

We do. That's were state finals are played.
