American Truckers Just Got BAD News From Obama… This Is a Total Disgrace

American truckers, and the big rigs they drive, are literally the lifeblood of this nation, transporting food, raw materials and finished goods from one end of the country to the other and back again, delivering what is needed where it is needed when it is needed on a daily basis.

But those truckers just had a major roadblock placed in their way, courtesy of President Barack Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency, and the consequences for not only the trucking industry, but America as a whole, could be devastating.

According to The Daily Caller, the EPA just announced on Tuesday that it had yet again made changes to the fuel emissions standards that govern big rig semi-trucks, large work trucks, vans and buses, all in the name of fighting the ever-elusive “climate change.”

Of course, many in the trucking industry will find it incredibly difficult and costly to meet these strict new standards that take effect in 2018, especially when they are already struggling to meet the heightened standards just put in place a few years ago.

This is particularly true for small businesses and independent truckers, so the administration has given them an “out” that reeks of Chicago-style extortion.

Yes, the EPA has instituted a special fine that can be paid by those who fail to comply with the new standards, allowing them to continue their business operations, for a price. There is no word on exactly how this fine will magically make their vehicles no longer pollute or be considered harmful to the environment.

Every stinkin’ time the EPA hits diesel engines, the cost of that machine goes up 10-20% with no increase in production or fuel savings. The owners can’t just charge more for doing the same amount work.

You should be able to read the first paragraph and understand what the story is about.

The problem with citizen journalists is they cannot write for shit.

My next tractor will be 1999 or older, to avoid electronic log implementation. I will never purchase another new one.

Just stop hauling freight and see how fast these regs disappear.

Sadly, that won’t happen. The costs will just get passed on to the suckers....er....consumers.

Why would POTUS do this to his Union people? Unless, they will just vote for dems no matter what.

The new diesel engines are a failure. Constantly going down, usually to emissions. Ford has announced that starting in 2017, no emergency vehicles such as ambulances, etc will be available with diesel-only gas engines.
Imagine going to the hospital, and they have to pull over to do a 45 minute regen (a cleaning process for the soot trapping muffler, which can get as hot as 850 degrees during the process, plus burn a lot of fuel). Most of the time it fails to start itself, and needs to be plugged into a laptop and forced to do it.
Or the DEF (diesel exhaust fluid) model, which is different than the regens. This one will shut down if you run out of DEF. Often it creates a large mineral ball in the system, which will shut it down.
We see these problems daily where I work. Vehicles constantly towed in for emissions computer issues. Most of the mechanics can’t fix it, just a few that are very experienced can usually fix it in a day or two.
Thanks, EPA for forcing the industry to slap together something that the technology was not there yet. It is costing everyone a lot of money and down time.
Now comes phase two. Caterpillar dropped out for on road engines, a great loss in my opinion. Who will drop out next time?

STRIKE!!! They will back down in 4 days.

If that! When I was worried about Y2K, I read that grocery stores have, at best, three days of stock.

Wait until supplies start running low.

Truckers are what makes civilized life possible. They hold all the power.

*sigh* I always wanted to be a trucker. To go everywhere, see everything. It must be, in some ways, a pretty amazing life, although it is probably very stressful and tiring.

All truckers and trucking and shipping companies need to stop all deliveries to Washington DC and shut it completely down.

CON-gress should have done more than encourage EPA to add the extortion, sorry the fine, which is a fee to keep operating their businesses. Like maybe encouraged the EPA to not create the rule in the first place.

It’s past time to lay all the evidence on the line, and determine what is BS, and what is truth regarding AGW. IT DOES NOT EXIST. THERE’S NO PROOF IF EXISTS, and those shoving the myth down our throats are making a fortune at our expense pushing the myth off on us.

Our government is stymied by it. Our lives are totally disrupted by the myth, and the opportunists perpetuating the myth. The disruption of our nation’s progress due to the opportunists self serving perpetuation of the myth, and the mythological fix’s to the myth are criminal in that they are robbing we the people of our pursuit of happiness, and well being in order to enrich themselves at our expense.

end rant.

President Trump, in an effort to stop the madness in its tracks, should appoint Sarah Palin to the EPA, and give her carte blanche.

It’ll take a Mamma Grizzly to clean house and ultimately defang this monstrosity of an agency.

But, but...how’s Barky going to get his imported Kobe Beef and California Arugula?

I suppose it will be flown in, on a private plane. He doesn't have to worry about doing without.

And I second your *spit*! LOL! ;)

Excellent question. I’d wager they will be exempt under some sort of NAFTA provision.
