How I know we will lose this election, ie, how NeverTrumperism earned me this zot
nevertrumper defeatism

Posted on 08/09/2016 6:35:18 PM PDT by AirForceGeorge

We're seeing a lot of the same things around here we saw the last two losing election cycles and they all point to a loss...

"Celebration" of polls showing the GOP candidate losing by a small margin. When Drudge advertises "shock polls" that still show our guy losing and everyone on here is celebrating, even when these types of polls are amongst only a few showing it even close you know it's bad news.

Self appointed polling statisticians on here demanding polling internals and then applying their personal sauce to show the desired outcome. Saw the same thing.

The blame the media trope. Sure the media is biased as heck but the same thing happened the last two election cycles. Everyone here blamed bias and conspiracies for every polling result they didn't like and we saw how that ended up.

This isn't how winning teams act. We're in deep doo-doo.

I’m a huge Trump supporter and have been since late last year, but I agree with your warnings about the polls. Now, I think you are absolutely wrong to declare the election over with this early. Trump has more than enough time to turn this around still, and we don’t know what might come out about Hillary in the future.

That being said, I hate to see all this delusion here about polls. In 2008 (when I was a mere lurker) I let the Freeper arguments about hidden votes and skewed polls convince me that McCain would pull off an upset victory. In 2012, I let Freepers convince me again that we were going to win, even though I had originally thought Obama would be re-elected. I even lost a lot of money betting against Obama wins on Intrade, primarily based on what I read here. I swore then I’d never let Freepers or anyone else convince me to disregard poll averages and trends (actual outlying polls are a different matter).

I have no doubt whatsoever that Trump is in a very bad patch at the moment. To deny that is to engage in wishful thinking. However, we have months left and Trump is a fighter. It ain’t over till it’s over.

Problem with this is we had 2 candidates, in those prior elections you mention, that pretty much threw in the towel thus proving the polls right.

This time, the repub establishment was not able to put up a phony to run up against Hillary. We have an actual fighter for the American people and the Constitution. Trump will not coordinate with the media and the whole District of Corruption to throw the election to the corrupt powers that be. So who knows how the polls will play out this time. Just something to consider this go round.

Big difference between McCain/Romney and Trump. I don’t have to hold my nose to vote in this one...

Sorry, but I don’t indulge in wishful thinking and don’t consider Trump in a bad patch at the moment. I think Trump is showing an incredible strength of resistance to lies and deceit being piled on him by the media and the rinos and my admiration grows for his power in the face of adversity. This country needs a strong leader who will yank us off of the pussified road we have been on for far too long. Trump is it and it is time the wimps on this thread sit up and take notice of a MAN of purpose, for a change.

No. Polls are current. The questions are, “If the election is today, will you...” People look at them as if they are predictive.

Spoken like Tokyo Rose would have said it. I've been noticing that most who speak like you are either shy and anonymous about donating to FR or just non-donors. I have reason to believe that most of you also don't donate to a candidate.

You do nothing positive, take the effort to demoralize our side, then act like your opinion is worth something.

I highly encourage you to do something that might help turn your doom and gloom story around - it's called putting your money where your mouth is instead of putting your lips where Hillary's @$$ is.

Donate to Trump and Donate to FR while ylou're at it...

Hillary is no Barak Who-Sane? O-Bomb-Us!

She is not qualified to light his bong.

And Trump is no McLame or Rum-Knee.

Trump doesn't grovel.

“I think Trump is showing an incredible strength of resistance to lies and deceit being piled on him by the media and the rinos and my admiration grows for his power in the face of adversity.”

I certainly agree with this, but it still doesn’t mean that dropping 6-10 percentage points in most polls over the past couple or so weeks isn’t a “bad patch.” I agree it was caused primarily by the extremely manipulative, partisan media as well as backstabbing Republicans, but that doesn’t change the fact that Trump’s support in the polls has nosedived.

I think we need to recognize that we’re going through a difficult period and find ways to fight harder and change the narrative better. Trump in particular needs discover how to circumvent the press more and counter the distortions Hillary and her media pets put out there about him. He also needs to make sure every voter knows the details about her lies and criminality, even if it takes an expensive ad blitz and devoting large chunks of each speech to the topic.

They are predictions based upon a sample. The sample may be current, but the poll is a prediction, an estimation.

Perhaps I don’t expect clear sailing in a deep sea. There are always ups and downs and panic isn’t the way to deal with what is really normal in a fight for top dog. Trump is doing just fine and I have confidence in his ability to counter any temporary setback. Everytime fuel is added to the fire by people who are supposed to be Trump supporters by panic and condemnation it is achieving what Hillary wants. I don’t give a damn what Trump says. I give a damn about what Trump will do to set things right in this country. Keep your eye upon the doughnut and not upon its hole.

“Pansies join the Air Force.

That is all.

L”

1) Air Support saved allot of lives
2) Air Power softened enemy targets & strongholds (saving lives)
3) The support structure needed to service, maintain, repair, refuel aircraft keeps “fighters” in the air and accomplishes the mission.

This will be my first presidential election where I will vote Republican. The past week or so is making me nervous. I don’t want to be Debbie Downer, but his invincibility seems fractured.

I am completely stunned at how Hillary just rolls on by. People are absolutely okay w/ her lies.

You are not correct at all. They are not predicting the vote on November 8. The questions are NEVER who will you vote for on November 8. The question is who will you vote for if the election is today.

I have studied in this field and have worked in this field. I do know what I state. No one in the field believes a poll taken today will reflect the vote on November 8 because everyone knows voters change their minds, issues important today may be irrelevant on election day and an issue of low importance may become a top issue on election day.

Pollsters always like to point out that the actual percent in a poll is not as important as the trend.

Trump has so many factions working against him, the dem party machine and it's media, RINO's, even Foxnews is working against him. Of course his invincibility is going to seem fractured when all this is going against him but that is how they are trying to shape public opinion. They have the power to do that and are abusing it to help hilLIARy.

That's why I completely tune them out and have my news vetted here on Free Republic. Then you will understand most of hilLIARy's support is astroturf with all these media's help.

The trick is not to let any of the left's machinations have any power over us. The less power they have over us, the less power they have and have to influence. That is the start to defeating these corrupt people. Hang in there.
