Cool Cat: The Nine Lives of Christopher Walken, Movie Star and Feline Fan

Christopher Walken likes to watch.

If that gives you the willies, you’re probably thinking of the Oscar-winning actor’s more unsettling roles—he’s played sadists, murderers, madmen, mobsters, mercenaries, psychopaths, evil masterminds and extremely messed-up Vietnam vets in the course of a career that began in the early 1950s.

“I have played a lot of villains,” he admits.

But what Walken likes to watch is just outside the windows of his home in rural Connecticut, on the cusp of a nature preserve, where he’s lived with his wife, Georgianne, a Hollywood casting director, for nearly 40 years.

“There were four deer in the driveway this morning,” he says. “There were turkeys here yesterday. My wife saw a snake in the driveway the other day. Hummingbirds come every day almost to the minute. They come right up the window and stare at me. It’s almost as though they know I’m there.

Perhaps he could do a remake of “Eat” as a duet with Robert Indiana. And featuring a Walken cat, of course.

Given the nature of his most popular roles, it was quite surprised to find that he got his start as a song and dance guy.

Yep, got into a big argument with Robert Wagner soon before Natalie drowned.

I’ve always been very fond of Christopher Walken. When he was much younger, he
was a dead ringer for my nephew Richard Callahan, Jr. who was born when I was
five.

As Richy aged, he looked more and more like Walken, and I thought that was just
totally cool. He fought in Vietnam as a helicopter pilot, and got hooked on
heroin. When he came home again, he was pretty much wrung out, rode hard, and
put away wet. Unfortunately, he died quite young, in his 50’s.

My oldest sister’s eldest son. The drugs got Richy, but COPD killed my oldest
sister. Heck, everyone in my immediate family are dead, and I’m the last Martin
standing. June, my oldest sister had COPD.

Donna died of Alzheimer’s Disease, and her greedy son took everything she had,
and he helped himself to the sale of her beautiful home and didn’t even think
about sharing with anyone.

My oldest sib, Richard, died of a malignant brain tumor, and his dear wife,
Susan was left with quite a mess. His child (now a man) Douglas, wasn’t all
that happy about Dick’s widow.

My brother Bruce died of AIDS. He was a homosexual, and he wasn’t careful about
who he “loved.”

Oddly, my brothers both passed on September 5. One in 1989, and the other in 1990.

The Continental is a classic. Some cham-pagnye, perhaps?

I also laugh when I think of the SNL sketch where there is a Walken family reunion and the ALL talk like him.

I certainly did. His voice has a cadence. It’s sort of like the three syllable cadence that allows anyone, to sound like, Michael Caine.

OK, so who else here was reading the article and hearing it in Walken's voice?

I was disappointed when Trump didn’t pick Walken as his Vice-President.
