“...attacked his family?...”

Ted’s PAC maligned/attacked Melania first; turnabout is fair play.

I supported Cruz in the Primaries and did until he lost the nomination numerically. Those who were #NeverTrump were purged about 2 1/2 months ago, so you won’t see them around.

Those who supported Cruz in the Primary but support Trump in the general (like myself) have been ripped over and over on this site even after the #NeverTrump supporters were removed.

Do I regret my support of Cruz? No. With the information I had at the time, I don’t feel like I made a mistake.

Do I regret some of the things Cruz has done in the last several months? Absolutely. He gave his word, and he broke his word. He put his personal agenda above the good of the country.

It’s inexcusable and he has destroyed his political career.

Do I now support Trump? Absolutely. Last August I said that Trump had a very good chance of claiming the nomination and I would support him should that occur. It has and I support him.

Cruz will not receive my support in any future election as I can’t trust him to keep his word nor can I believe that his dedication to conservative principles will take precedence over his personal interest. He has tainted all future promises and declarations with his behavior last night.

Politicians can rebuild their reputation, but it takes a long time and a lot of work to reconstruct lost trust. And destroying that trust on as big of a stage as Cruz did last night may make it impossible to rebuild it in the end.

“They chased themselves off.”

Good call. The vast majority of Trump supporters were willing to support Cruz if he was the nominee.

The alleged Cruz supporters seemed to all mindlessly use the same buzzwords to ridicule anyone who didn’t believe Cruz was the ONLY choice, and spewed hate and intolerance as they left, allegedly alliteratively seeking “consistent conservatism”.

A shameful several months here at FR. Guessing they’re still willing to accept Cruz’s shame for Hillary.

Without any sarcasm, I do want to thank the Cruz supporters who will vote for Trump and against Clinton, and for saying so here. Thanks!

I supported Cruz in the primaries and still think Trump is a rino and might do a lot of damage on a whole slew of issues. Cruz ran a very bad campaign in the end and really hurt any chance he had but I can not blame him for not endorsing Trump with the smears Trump started and ended with.

If you are a news junky you know he is not the first to first to give a speech at a convention and not endorse but with the way Trump plays ball it will not help him do a darned thing in Washington. Unlike most rabid Trump supporters I can look at all candidates honestly and see the good and bad in them....and yes, I live in Texas.

Actually Trump said that he made a mistake in retweeting the picture of Heidi Cruz.

So, yes, Trump did do it and he said later he regretted it.

Untrue. We've been here just like you. Or have you?

Ted is a liar on a pathological level. He lied this morning claiming that people were saying to vote your conscience was a ‘horrible thing to say’. No one said that not to him not to any one.

He lied about Ben Carson. He lied about his support for TPP. He lied and lied and lied. Trump NEVER said anything bad about his family. Trump tweeted a picture of Melania side by side with heidi and asked who you would rather have as first lady. This after Ted’s crew distributed fliers all over Utah with a nasty and vicious set of comments on a picture of Melania from a GQ article years ago. Trump answered questions asked by interviewers about a picture of what may be Ted’s dad on the street handing out leaflets with Lee Oswald. Trump said isn’t that odd?

Yes I think it is odd. and still needs to be addressed

People of good will supported him, his actions last night and this am are on him, not them.

Cruz's sliminess was evident to all that looked. It says a lot about his followers that they can be so easily swayed by someone because they put on a facade of being religious.

Cruz was empowered by his followers that clung to him long after the nomination was clearly decided.

I’m a Cruz supporter. I still feel that he’s the only truly conservative candidate. I don’t blame him for not endorsing Trump-if someone had trashed my loved ones I wouldn’t want to endorse him either. Trump is a bully. He’s not a conservative, but some weird amalgamation of populist and power-hungry. How could someone with political principles give money to the Democrat party? It seems to me that he appeals to a nasty mob mentality, which is what I’ve seen on this site, disappointingly. You Trump supporters are downright mean and personally insulting to anyone who doesn’t toe the line. As little as I want that bitch Hillary, it will be hard to vote for Trump in good conscience, although I probably will.

I supported Cruz from the first day and was so excited to see a conservative constitutionalist running for office. I am a #neverrino. As the primaries began, I hoped that at least Carson, Cruz or Trump would win the nomination. As the debates wore on, it became increasingly clear that Carson wasn’t going to make it. It also became clear that Cruz was a disappointment. That’s all I’m going to say. Last night, Cruz had the opportunity to uphold his pledge to support whoever was the candidate while still remaining true to his own principles, after all he is the great orator, right? He should have endorsed Trump for the betterment of this country. We HAVE to stop hiLIARy. Instead, Cruz cr@pped in the punch bowl. I’m beyond disappointed in Cruz.

... Good bye Ted Cruz,
though we never new you at all,
you had the disgrace to stand up there and lie to us all,
you lit both ends of your candle and now you’re melt all away.
Your legend burned out long before your candle did.

Here's the way I see it, FWIW:

- Trump should never have bashed Ted's wife and his father

- Trump made a serious miscalculation by having Ted speak at the RNC convention (Trump should've KNOWN Cruz MIGHT get REVENGE, so why take the risk?!)

- If Cruz told Team Trump he would endorse him at the convention then DIDN'T, he is an *SSHOLE

- Cruz' stunt PROVES Trump is right about "LYIN' TED CRUZ"!!

- This does NOT hurt Trump, but does show poor judgment on Trump's part.
