As they shouldn’t, since they share the blame.
Sue the gator.
Despite their own culpability, they would have won. I’m guessing Disney quietly offered a generous settlement.

Who lets their 2 year old child play in a waterfront, gators or not, anyway?
Have to disagree with you on them sharing the blame. I have been at that very spot on evening strolls with my family. It was designed by Disney to resemble a shoreline. Night time outdoor family movies are shown just yards away. It is a miracle that this didn’t happen before now. It could have easily been one of my own grandchildren. We are all Floridians and know about alligators, so don’t go there if you are thinking of using the “stupidity” response that so many other posters have in these discussions.
This has been discussed before. A “no swimming” sign does not warn of alligators. The child was not swimming, but was walking at the edge of the water, and the father was just feet away. I would say that this is why Disney has now built a barrier and accurate warning signs about alligators at that area. Don’t you agree?
Share the Blame ....Culpability?
I’m from Wyoming and was at the same man-made lake a year ago ...... I had no idea there would be alligators in the lake!
We didn’t go on the beach or in the water, but I wouldn’t have had second thoughts about it.
Hey people wake up! If Disney knew there were alligators in the water they should have posted a sign ....
You know how you see the “Beware of Sharks” signs at some beaches.
You people who say that a parent is to blame for letting their 2-yr old wade at the waters edge are heartless!!!
