Twenty years ago this Sunday, TWA Flight 800, a 747 bound for Paris, exploded off the coast of Long Island, killing all 230 people on board.
In the last few years, researchers have unearthed an astonishing treasure trove of CIA documents, secured a confirmed video of a Long Island missile launch five days before TWA 800s demise, and persuaded numerous witnesses and whistleblowers from inside the investigation to come forward. Here is what we now know.

I distinctly remember a CBS bulletin when it happened. They said that the PENTAGON is reporting..............
...
Maybe a spy satellite picking up the fireball after the left wing came off is a reason. Nothing personal, but maybe you’re not remembering correctly.
Cover Ups are a way of life with the Federal Government. If it is embarrassing or inconvenient or too politically hot for the administration in power, it is covered up.
...
Yet there was an extensive NTSB investigation and a publicly available report that few bother to read. Multiple professional organizations were contracted to do research on the mishap. The TWA 800 wreckage is still assembled and used for training, which isn’t a very good strategy for a coverup.
And the same FBI that came up with the single bullet theory for JFKs assassination.
...
The NTSB did the vast majority of the work on the TWA 800 crash and wrote the official report.
And let’s not forget the FBI’s lead guy, James Kallstrom.
First night—it was a missile. Next morning—not a missile, not sure what it was, which then morphed into the ridiculous center fuel tank explosion theory.
A year later with the investigation all wrapped up, Kallstrom retires from the FBI after 35 years as a gumshoe.
Then he lands a new gig—as an investment banker. Really?
Who knew he was so talented?
Can you say “payoff”?
Now, he shows up on FoxNews as a commentator.
F’him.
1. The maximum altitude for a shoulder-fired missile is 13,000 ft. TW800 was at 14,500 ft when it began to disintegrate.
According to the NTSB a high end portable missile could have reached TWA800. But it would have had to have been in about a two mile circle underneath the flight path. They took the possibility seriously and tested for it.
2. The explosive charge in a shoulder-fired missile is insufficient to cause the destruction of a plane the size of a Boeing 747.
The NTSB determined that a detonation within 40 feet of the tank could have sent shrapnel capable of penetrating the tank, but they found no such damage to the plane wreckage.
True. The NTSB determined that the air conditioning packs underneath the tank would have been a sufficient IR target. However, no damage from a missile was found on the wreckage.
The AC packs are what heated the fuel vapor to the range of flammability.
bkmk
The “loons” I saw were some of the scientist and engineers that investigated the explosion!
Don't worry, I am not forgetting. He immediately went into the box of not reliable sources when he went against witnesses.
A gumshoe knows a case is made up from witness testimony and items to be submitted as exhibits. They suppressed witness testimony and made up a story to explain the exhibits remaining.
However, someone probably threw a highly classified blanket over this case that meant deep, dark secrets could not be shared under penalty of law.
Newsflash - the director just made all of that go away.
And again the real clue about this, is that the case was yanked from the NTSB and the CIA (really folks, the CIA) came up with an explanation, that if true might have been the final NTSB conclusion, if true.
Where can this video be found?
Good info!
I believe the physics and math I DID rather than the phony math that the CIA and NTSB used and refuse to release so it can be checked to produce their impossible zoom climb (according to other 747 pilots and aeronautical engineers) videos showing a noseless, out-of-balance aircraft in-stallwith the center of lift being twelve feet ahead of the center of gravity climbing 3000 feet in just 18 seconds, after the engines reverted to idle at loss of signal (per Boeing) from the cockpit.
We KNOW from passive radar returns that the main wreckage of TWA-800 smashed into the ocean approximately 42 seconds after the initiating event which occurred at approximately 13,800. If, after that event, the aircraft zoomed an additionally 18 seconds upwards to 16,000 to 17,000 feet of altitude, a law of ballistics says it takes an equal amount of time to fall the same distance back to the starting elevation where it was when it started the climb, i.e. 13,800, and then more time to fall the rest of the way from 13,800. Ergo, for the CIA Zoom climb to be possible, since 36 seconds would be used in climb and return to starting altitude, the rest of the 13,800 foot fall of the wreckage had to be accomplished in a mere six seconds. . . at about 2,300 feet per second, more than MACH 2, twice the speed of sound. Not possible.
So much for the "scientists and engineers who investigated the explosion" to explain the eye witness testimony all away with smoke and mirrors.
Since when does a law about NEGLIGENCE require that the person being negligent ever REQUIRE that person to have an intent to BE NEGLIGENT? "Gee, I think I will plan to ignore my duty to safeguard that child." or "There's a broken and dangerous step on my porch, I know this, but I am deliberately planning on not repairing it so someone WILL slip and fall and break their neck. That sounds like a fun thing to see!" or "I know that by not repairing that broken railing in my store's mezzanine, a child will lean on it and fall off to their death, but I don't care because I would prefer to save my money to buy a new car. Besides Insurance is cheaper than paying to repair it."
No, intent is never required to prove negligence. . . especially extreme negligence.
He said she was extremely careless. That equals gross negligence in my vocabulary.
No, the initiating event occurred at approximately 13,800 feet. This is a known fact. The last active transponder return from TWA-800 showed it was passing through 13,700 feet and climbing at the rate of 33 feet per second. The event occurred sometime before the next active transponder failed to return a signal 4.64 seconds after that when the radar next swept the aircraft. Best estimates put that at approximately three seconds post the 20:31:11:85 sweep and last return. Those three seconds would allow, at best for only a 100 feet climb to the initiating event. BOOM! and perhaps a few more seconds before the nose was detached. The point at which the nose landed tracks back in a ballistic fall from that point calculated with its mass. Certainly there was no more climb with the rest of the wreckage.
Since the day that Clinton met up with Lynch at the airport.
20 years ago today.
