Allergic to life: the Arizona residents 'sensitive to the whole world'
Guardian ^ | 7/11/16 | Kathleen Hale and Mae Ryan

Posted on 07/11/2016 6:22:03 AM PDT by Celerity

Afterward, Mae and I ducked behind a curtained-off partition to consider our sleeping arrangements: two metal cots, one broken, and zero blankets, (because blankets are absorbent and, according to local logic, our pores were still “off-gassing” dangerous chemicals). Nighttime in the desert is freezing, and Susie’s house did not have heating. I wanted to be unconscious and regretted my semi-recent decision to start weaning off sedatives.

Snowflake wallpaper: Wet cornstarch on walls, spread heavy duty aluminum foil, smooth with mason’s trowel. Serves too purposes for these folks - eliminated “degassing” from the drywall material and redudes outside electronic emissions.

Better call Saul!

Jimmy's brother (Charles) has an allergy to electromagnetic waves. He has cut off the power to his home, wears tinfoil when he goes outdoors to get the newspaper and requires all visitors put cell phones and car keys with auto door locks in his mailbox before entering. He uses Coleman lanterns for light, cooks on a gas stove and has his law firm's messanger bring him food and ice for the cooler.

Just reading that article irritated me. What a miserable existence.

Has it occurred to you that instead of disparaging these people, to give thanks that you aren’t also infected with the same disabling illnesses.

It all depends on how the aluminum was sealed (RF sealed with conductive sealant). If it was just a bunch of pieces of aluminum foil taped up in odd sizes, it is highly likely they could just become re-radiators of whatever EM of the right wavelengths struck them. In order to effective they must be perfectly RF sealed at each point where they overlap.

There are also several anecdotal sources and academic treatments out there on the web, too. Here’s a real world test one guy did.

She built “a little safe place” in Snowflake and coved the walls in aluminum foil. Guess she doesn’t know aluminum is said to lead to Alzheimer’s. Just look at all those aluminum pans in the kitchen. Guess she also doesn’t know Tylenol isn’t holistic. How toxic is the stain and shiny finish that’s on the floor? How’s the radium count out there? Of course, my tax dollars support these nuts on the first of every month.

Because she knows they’d all say she’s cuckoo for cocoa puffs.

Yup, and one of the most unfreindly places I have ever seen. Tried to lease and parcel there from the Apache RR to start setting up a sawmill for a friend who wanted to put one in. They gave use a counter offer of 17 grand a month for 10 acres and we had to get the power in, water in and everything. I blew up and told the sleazy little bastard from AZTEC land and cattle to shove his GD land right up his weasel ass. I actually said those words. Got up and left and turned around and told that bastard if I ever saw him on the streets I would show him in sign language what I REALLY thought of him.
And people wonder why Catalyst Paper shut down and left the hole?

Just curious, but are you talking about Showlow or Snowflake?
I have never spent more than a day at a time in either. Though I have thought of looking into both.

What a bunch of heartless nasty replies, all but one.

I have severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivity, much the same as the people in this article. Have been dealing with it for 22 years now. Got it from working, and working very hard. I know many other people that have it too.

It is not an allergy, it is a chemical poisoning. I am fine around animals and trees, etc, as long as there is no scented or chemical product.

I live like a hermit and rarely interact with people, to spare THEM having to deal with me. Had to give up my work, self employed. No disability, this is not recognized by doctors. Just kept my life simple and my needs very little. I owe nobody a thing, nor did I take from anyone. So please don’t group us all as crazies. You don’t know!

I have always said, and will still say, the worst part of dealing with this problem, is other peoples attitudes. As displayed right here on this board.

Thank you for that thoughtful reply. I have to admit, some of these people in this article take it a bit over the top. But I have been there, and still am in many ways. You get desperate to breath air and eat food that doesn’t make you feel like you just ingested a cup of rat poisoning.

We don’t live this way because we want to. We do have a choice. Eliminate and avoid all that triggers the illness, and deal with a lot of degrading attitudes. Also loose most of your family and friends because you just aren’t worth the trouble.

I had an incredible life going on before I had to finally walk away. I owned and operated 3 busy businesses. Had my shit together. So we are not all just simply crazy! No crazier then anyone else.

I chose to remove myself, buy a good chunk of land, live clean and simple, grow my own food, and screw peoples nasty attitudes. They need to be avoided too. Now for the most part, I feel good each day and forget often that I have this problem. Best hope you don’t have to live this way, because it can, and does, happen to anyone once they have been over exposed.

No different then any other illness, odd or not, that others have to live with. Some might try showing some kindness and compassion. Or just try wrapping your mind around something you don’t understand.

They’ve already done those tests and the supposedly “electrosensitive” always fail them.

They shoujld just start smoking pot and drinking. Enjoy life. Only someone as rich and miserable as a liberal has time to invent their problems.
