Robot-Powered Burger Joint Makes a Beeline For Bay Area
NBC Bay Area ^ | Jul 2, 2016

Move over, humans. A robot-operated restaurant is heading to the Bay Area.

Momentum Machines, a San Francisco-based startup, plans to launch a burger joint where fare is cooked, seasoned and wrapped by robots, Tech Insider reported.

The still unnamed restaurant will utilize what Momentum Machines built in 2012 — a machine that could churn out 400 burgers in an hour. The innovative appliance includes a stamper that grinds and stamps custom blends of meat, a vegetable slicer, an oven to toast the meat and bun, and a bagger to wrap the complete product.

Images released by the company show the machine “completely replaces all the sandwich labor in a restaurant.”

A Craigslist job ad that Momentum Machines posted about a month ago said that the restaurant will open at 680 Folsom Street. The ad described the burgers as “fresh-ground and grilled to order, served on toasted brioche, and accented by an infinitely personalizable variety of fresh produce, seasonings, and sauces.”

Momentum Machines was founded in 2009 by a group of engineers who wanted to bring together their love for food, technology and machines.

To me, the liberals don’t seem to understand, or don’t care about, the consequences of the fight for $15, and constantly wanting the minimum wage increased.

They don't care about what happens to the $15/hour fast food worker.

They do care what happens to the $35/hour union worker with a built in wage increase in his contract when the minimum wage goes up.

Yes, we do-and here at least those workers don’t get or expect $15 per hour-I work in construction as a sub-times are hard-you take what you can get and are grateful for it-the $15 per hour or else whiners have apparently not yet experienced being broke and hungry...

Too slow, not the same robot machine. The one in SF can make hundreds per hour. They still need people to clean tables... until a Roomba for tables is invented.

There are already floor sweeping and sanitizing robots.
The only area where they will be needed is on the customer side, there wont be any dirty feet on the business side.

Robots are coming either people bitch about min wage or not. That is simple innovation and tech. I dunno if people will opt for robots making food for them or not. To each their own, I doubt prices will come down one way or the other.

Dave: “Hal, make that a large fries.”

Robotry is not turning out like we thought back then. Robots have become a commodity.

the minimum wage is all about union payback...

union contracts are tied to the minimum wage..

higher the minimum wage, higher the union wage
