People have a hard time realizing that a VP pick is to help deliver a state in the general election. That said, kind of blows the Palin pick out of the water. Anywho, Kasich and Rubio make the most sense if they can deliver Ohio or Florida. Won’t win the election. Without those two states.

I agree about Rand Paul. I thought he proved himself formidable during the primary. He would bring on board a lot of millennials. My daughter and her husband for example.

Anyone who thinks Trump doesn’t want a yes man is only partially right. I think he absolutely would not tolerate a yes man. You don’t build the kind of business he did by surrounding yourself with people who don’t think for themselves. He wants people who question his views, he’ll listen then make up his own mind. But he needs their input to make an informed decision and he knows it. Otherwise he wouldn’t be a multi billionaire.

That’s why I would say the best bets would be Gingrich or West. Both have spoken out against Trump on occasion, so he knows each will speak his mind and stand up to the boss. I’d be willing to bet he likes that. If you don’t think so, look up the interview with his long time butler.

Gingrich is my first choice, he knows his way around DC, and knows how to get people to put aside the political squabbles and go to work, as he showed when he hammered out a budget during the Clinton days.

A lot of people disagree, but Newt has a long standing reputation for speaking his mind, whether you like it or not, which is exactly what he did when Trump made comments about the judge in the Trump U case Newt didn’t like. I’m also guessing here, but I think he went up a notch in Trump’s eyes when he did that, he knew he would be getting incoming...and did it anyway.

Sessions for some reason I just don’t see as VP. Not sure how to put my finger on it, I just don’t see it. He’ll be in there somewhere, I’d bet on that, but not VP.

West would be best at something in national defense. Sec of Defense maybe.

Forget the rest, and there’s one other option...Trump will surprise us all and come up with something we never expected.

I never even look at Newsmax poll pages, I went once and stopped when they wanted my email address. Nope, you don’t need that to just take a poll. Same reason I never did manage to email Cruz, I see no reason he should require my email address just to get public feedback. I know what that brings, tons of junk mail. No thanks...

I have to go with Sarah Palin. I want someone who is in tune with what Trump is all about and will fearlessly fight the entrenched political establishment.

I liked Rand Paul too, until I vetted him. He is an open borders guy - NO THANKS! Jim Webb is a D - that won’t fly with the D party. People, use your common sense when mentioning names.

I don’t know as much about Lee as I do about Sessions, but I seem to remember Lee saying some unflattering things about Trump recently.
Could be wrong.

Or Sessions. He’d actually be great for all the reasons you cite and then some. Trump would benefit greatly from Jeff’s perspective.

Two who aren’t listed — Rand Paul and Jim Webb — would be better choices than most of these people."

FWIW, this is who I think Trump's VP will be...

The Case for Rand Paul as Trump's VP Choice

Follow me on this...

* Trump needs to get things through the House and Senate.
* With Newt as Chief of Staff, he can work Bills through the House with him, Newt knows were all the bodies are burried.
* And with Paul as Presiding over the Senate he has got a contact with the Senate to maneuver through that mind field.
* More So...
* IMHO Mitch McConnell owes Rand.....
* Say what you will about Matt Bevin as a Senate Candidate, he is the Gov. now, and is not to be taken lightly IMHO. Without Rand endorsing McConnell it might have been Senator Bevin.
* As a Fellow Freeper noted they have seen Sanders and Paul bumper stickers on cars in College / Liberal areas.
* FWIW, the Bernsters are not going to pull the lever for Kim Jong Shrill.
* As someone who is around kids I have noted the Millennial interest in Rand and I think he could swing a number of disaffected Bernie Voters to Trump, they like him he has got that Uncandidate Hipster thing going on and they dig it.

Three other things....

* Rand bowed out early with grace. and gave an unequivocal 100% Endorsement of Donald Trump
* Rand is also deemed as an outsider, he is an "insurance policy" that the ticket will not cave to the establishment
* And he was the only one to talk about cutting government and the debt, something that Trump around the edges has noted.

Sounds like a winner to me

Yes, Sessions has been my pick for months. He’s the only guy in the Senate I actually trust, and he came out for Trump very early. I still think it will be him.

It has to be a NON-GLOBALIST that believes in the Bill of Rights, the U.S Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Rule of Law.

Furthermore, it has to be someone more feared by the GLOBALIST than Trump.

That being said here are my 2 choices.

1# Governor Greg Abbott of Texas

or

2# Senator Jeff Sessions of Alabama

Gingrich is a Globalist. That alone disqualifies him.

I would consider Col. West Secretary of Defense.

Can’t you read? Rand Paul is for amnesty - geesh! McConnell owes Paul nothing - it’s the other way around.

From his website:

Rand Paul Opposes Amnesty, Supports Securing Borders, and Reforming Legal Immigration

There’s no question our country has been enriched by those who come to our country seeking the American Dream and a chance at a better life.

But millions of illegal immigrants continually crossing our border without our knowledge threatens our national security.

That’s why, as a U.S. Senator, I’ve opposed amnesty and fought hard to secure our borders while most in Washington, D.C. offer nothing but talk.

SECURE THE BORDERS. NO MORE GAMES.

I’ve also introduced legislation that would make immigration reform conditional on Congress voting on whether the border is secure, requiring completion of a border fence in five years and stopping the federal government from establishing a national identification card system for citizens.

My “Trust but Verify” amendment requires Congress to write and enforce a border security blueprint rather than relying on bureaucracies, such as the Department of Homeland Security, to come up with a plan.

This amendment also would provide new national security safeguards to track the holders of student visas and those provided asylum and refugee status.

I also believe we should streamline the process for those immigrants who seek to jump through all the hoops required to enter the U.S. legally.

Legal immigration is a tremendous benefit to our country.

But in order to protect our nation and reform the immigration process, we must know who is and is not entering our country. That cannot be done without securing our border.
