The 2016 Miss Teen USA pageant will feature one major change from the previous years competitions: USA Today reports that it will be eliminating the swimsuit portion.
The pageant had previously required the contestants, aged 1419, to walk across the stage in a bikini to "show off the athleticism of the competitors.

“18-19 is adult. Call a young woman of that age a child and see what happens.”
These days, I would expect her reaction to be a Tantrum of Epic Proportions
Supposedly to promote a healthy image of excellent values for women and girls. That's why I suggested that a "casual dress" category, appropriate for low impact activities and daily activities would do just that.
Agreed. 14-17 is a different thing. Kind of odd they had 14 year old girls competing against 19 year old girls, but...I guess 18-19 still have the word “teen” in them.
I have never been able to reconcile calling an 18 year old private in the USMC a teenager, but...I guess he is too. In my mind, while he still has a lot of kid in him, he has to be considered a man.
Fair enough. But 14 yr. olds are kids. They should not have to prance around in bikinis for some contest.
Me too!
“why do people watch?”
It doesn’t seem like very many people do.
Fair enough. But 14 yr. olds are kids. They should not have to prance around in bikinis for some contest.
I see what you are saying. But, nobody is forcing anyone to prance around in bikinis. If the girls and their mothers are offended by these pageants, then they really should not compete in the first place.
I think only maybe women and gays watch this crap anyhow.
Freegards
I remember when the original inventor of the ‘sports bra’ showed up in a Southern Town with plenty of ‘lookers’ in the citizenry.
He was hawking his product, demonstrating how the new restraining bra would take the ‘jiggle’ out of a young lady’s step.
Last I heard some 100 or so young lads, armed with tar, feathers and pitchforks were chasing him out of town.
The bathing suits of old are one thing. The pieces of straps used now, are another.
(Yes —— I’m an old fogie.)
Good observation. It’s clear that Moslem is higher status than “gay,” so if Moslems turn against the abortion license ...
Poor Barry would be so conflicted.
Well, don’t go to the beach or public pool then.
I don’t. But that’s because I learned at age 5 that you can’t breath water!
“That said, 14-19 yr. olds are NOT women. Theyre kids. No interest in seeing that!”
Well stated. IMO, a ladies figure does not fully fill out until about the age of 25.
What I really hate to see are preteen girls in beauty contests made to look adult. Any mother that does this to her kid is sick. JonBenét Patricia Ramsey comes to mind.
Little girls should be little girls until mother nature matures them into women.
Maybe just burkinis:
+1.
No problem with girls wearing bikinis at pools or the beach. They aren’t on display competing on the basis of their sexuality, often at the insistence of their parents who are looking for a paycheck. (Let’s be real: Those are both parts of “beauty pageants.”)
That said, I understand your point. And it’s a decent point.
I think this is a great idea. No need for bathing suits at this age, and workout clothes are more in step with today’s world.
No, a Tantrum of Amazingly Momentous Proportions Overwhelming Now.
“They should not have to prance around in bikinis for some contest.”
I believe competition in these pageants aren’t compulsory...
