Consider this before you buy a new car or truck...

Posted on 06/14/2016 3:32:08 PM PDT by Tazzo

Buying a car or truck built in the USA, by members of the UAW, is a financial contribution to Clinton and other democrat candidates.

The United Auto Workers (UAW) financially support ONLY democrat candidates.

Do you want YOUR money supporting democrats?

Automobiles are a black hole. I have been indentured to them (and females) since I was 16. There is still hope on the transportation side, I’m looking at a bike I like now that I live in a small town.

Maybe as an organization and it's donations but the members don't fall lock step with the union when it comes time to vote................

I have many retired UAW friends who do not and will not support a Democrat nominee...........

“Do you want YOUR money supporting democrats?”

If they’re Americans?

Sure I do.

I say that cars are like food. 5 Star restaurant or McD’s, given time the end product is the same.

Daughter got a 2016 nissan versa. Very impressive gas mileage. 1.6L with CVT has amazing power for such a tiny engine. Even on the highway you can pass.

At 65mph, it’s revving at 2K rpm.

My 2.4L PT with 5spd at 65mph is revving 2500 rpm. BIG diff.

“Why did you sell it?”

If you have the dealer do the work, changing the transmission filter and one quarter of the fluid was $900 dollars. That happens every 45k miles. The timing belt needs to be changed every 100k miles and that was $1300. The DSG clutch failed and needed to be replaced at 100k miles. That cost $1700. There were essentially no owner serviceable parts other than an air filter and a fuel filter. I changed my own oil, but even that is difficult and the oil for the TDI was $10 a liter.

So, at 110k miles the DSG again started making noise. The car had decreased in value from 2010 from $28000 t0 $7000. Although it still ran great, at a minimum I’d have to spend almost $5000 to go another hundred thousand miles, most of it towards the end. The maintenance costs would then be close to the value of the car, meaning they wouldn’t be worth doing.

I sold it and bought two beaters in very good shape with the same money. I never looked back.

Plus, it was too small and I felt beaten to death on rutted roads.

We won’t even get into how the dealer cheats and tricks you into buying stuff you don’t need. The dealers are close to criminal.

Just bought a new car a couple months ago. Made in America (Mississippi) and non-union.

Years ago, when US automakers successfully lobbied Congress to set limits on imported cars, GM celebrated by caving in to steep UAW demands, paying their managers bonuses, then raising the price on their cars.

I swore then I’d never buy another GM car, and I have not.

"Vw lies to customers about their emisions software."

That's funny, I don't really give a cr*p about the emissions levels. I care more about cost, gas mileage, and potential longevity of the vehicle. I think VW was giving the finger to the environmentalists AND THE GUBBYMINT WHO IMPOSED THEM more than anything and I APPLAUD THEM FOR THAT!!

Get a Volkswagen you'll not regret it. And since they've hurt their sales with their emissions scandal, what better time to get a deal on a Volkswagen, eh?

Proof that GM is crap, in the 90s, rather than installing airbags (volvo started in 89), they put seatbelts on the door and called that SRS.

So in a side impact you were not restrained.

That turned me off to gm.
