Yep. Hollywood should have never re-made Ben Hur when the original silent movie was so much better than the one with Charlton Heston. / s

And I have to say that, and while I love John Wayne, the remake of True Grit was much better than the original. Much truer to the book especially the ending.

they are so proud of their all-women cast but they couldn’t even demonstrate the talent to make an original movie

they have to try to ride the coat-tails of a popular movie in this “re-make” because they are no-talent hacks

I hear they're also going to jack up Robocop, too.

The 40's were probably the best years in Hollywood

Stars were really greater than life stars and movies told stories

One of the reasons I like "Blue Bloods" so much on TV is because they are running, very well, with a family line of cops and story lines that are contemporary, interesting and well acted

I foresee the character "Danny" spinning off sometime in the future ... kind'a like what Dennis Franz did after "Hill Street Blues"

Why should ANY movie be “remade”?

Exactly! Hollywood has no new ideas so they keep making the same movies over and over.

I used to like Melissa McCarthy when she was in TV's Gilmore Girls.....now, not so much.

I never saw the original so I could not care less about it. I am angry to the extent that (1) I’m sick of being told by politically correct Hollyweirdos what I am supposed to like, (2) I saw the trailer for this one and it is garbage, sooo not-funny, and (3) it is incredibly annoying to have no-talent females (or anyone) try to ride the popularity of someone else’s work and then deride all critics for saying the emperor has no clothes.

They suck, they won’t admit it, but instead they will make their politically correct attacks on everyone who dares to challenge their puerile work.

The first sentence of the article refers to it as being
‘long awaited’. Oh, yeah? By whom?

I’d not heard of this effort until several months ago, and my immediate reaction was, ‘What’s the point in doing this, especially with a female cast?’

I remember seeing original versions of films - even silly ones like this - and being impacted by their imagination and creativity. Back to the Future and Star Wars are other examples. Sad that inventive material like this turns into derivative money-making and marketing opportunities, especially when they’re tech-ed up with modern spfx & CGI, and injected with liberal pet memes and PC crap, like ‘climate change’ or an LGBT agenda.

Sequels are sometimes less offensive, because they generally represent a continuation of the story, often with many of the principal cast members. But this often goes astray, too. Look at Exorcist 2, or follow the original JAWS through to JAWS 3D.

Barf...

The thing is, these women are not bad entertainers. They have all made me laugh out loud at one time or another. They are talented.

The problem is that the producers are trying to force the issue (women in charge) so bad, they ended up with a crappy movie.

And everyone knows it.

There used to be a slogan, “Because you demanded it!”

I think the slogan to Lady Ghostbusters should be “Because No One Demanded It!”

Ooops. Misread the first line. It says ‘long UNawaited’. Well, I stand by the rest of my comment, anyway...

I live in Krasnodar. It’s not to far from the Black Sea. (Not too far from Sochi either).

If you are traveling to Russia for the first time, then there is no question that you should visit Moscow and St. Petersburg. The area where I live is agricultural, but it’s close to the mountains and the sea. There is skiing and whitewater rafting. The beaches here are not too good, though.

She has stuck too much pie in her mouth. What she should try is a bar of soap and wash that filthy mouth out with it. My sister and I were just talking the other night about what a filthy mouth she has. Women in general have just lost it. Fat, tattooed, slovenly, unkempt, radical, masculine, bullies. I never thought I would say this about my own gender but I think the feminist movement set us women back five hundred years. That kind of woman just wants to get as big, bad, nasty and obnoxious as the bad boys are. Just ewwwwww. Its one thing to have rights but women do not have to go around ramming them down everyone’s throats like that buck-tooth radical varmint Hillary Clinton does. The whole culture it seems has lost its humanity. Mostly just a bunch of ill-mannered human apes playing at Romper Room.

I guess. Except that I don’t think of “Night of the Living Dead” as iconic except that it transited the genre of ‘zombie’ out of the mystical voodoo realm into a more widespread venue - chemical, alien, other unnatural causes.

I certainly don’t think that the acting in NOLD was of the caliber that couldn’t easily be replaced, either.

Flight of the Phoenix was a haunting film.

Sorcerer was a remake of The wages of fear and was spectacular but was eclipsed by star wars/
