This is an excerpt from Francis Schaeffer's How Should We Then Live? Published in 1976, Schaeffer draws parallels between ancient Rome's hatred of Christianity and what we're seeing in modern times.
No totalitarian authority nor authoritarian state can tolerate those who have an absolute by which to judge that state and its actions. The Christians had that absolute in God's revelation. Because the Christians had an absolute, universal standard by which to judge not only personal morals but the state, they were counted as enemies of totalitarian Rome and were thrown to the beasts.
Amazing the number of similarities between the two.

What’s So Great About Christianity by Dinesh D’Souza, a Book Review

But from the beginning of creation, God made them male and female. For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother [and be joined to his wife], and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh. Therefore what God has joined together, no human being must separate.
They stand directly in the way of liberals’ dreams of replacing the moral authority of God with an all-powerful state.
The left are satanists. It is that simple.
Francis Schaeffer’s books are tough reads. That said, they are largely responsible for leading me much deeper into my faith. His sentences tend to be quite complex, much like Solzhenitsyn’s. If you are a Christian, and especially if you still have lots to question about the spiritual warfare going on in this world, his books will help very much.
To me, it’s this: God made rules...rules that are meant for our good, allowing us to live happy, healthy lives. These rules go against what humans think is ‘best’ for them. They do NOT want to be told what to do, or to believe that they are answerable to anyone, especially a God who is Supreme Ruler and Judge over all.
Satan understands this and inflames the desires for self-rule and selfishness. This causes people to reject the idea of God and who He is.
What Jesus did for us and the choice we as humans have to accept or reject Him as the only way to redemption makes people have to face their own sins and shortcomings. No one WANTS to do that, but if we are to choose Jesus and His ways, we are forced to. The great thing is...if we accept Him and admit that we need Him and what He did for us, He forgives us and redeems us.
Satan whispers to humans, “If you do that, you lose the right to rule over yourselves forever. Your life will be miserable, and you will NEVER get to do the ‘fun things’ that bring you pleasure and make you happy.” This, of course, is a huge lie.
Amen!
So true. Same with the Marxists. Same with the Islamists.
The pervs and the ‘elites’ are trying to change “Do unto others as you would be done unto” to Crowley’s Satanic “Dow as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law.”
It is really that simple.
