If you live semi rural like me most dogs run wild
I’ve got guard class dogs so mine have invisible fence but most folks let their pastoral dogs run
My dogs are happy when roamers pass thru usually....someone new to play with
Try a Mal or Dutch Shepherd, they hardly slow down long enough to eat. Or border collie
My former boss had a massive, goofy yellow lab that one time ate a package of steak while it was still in its wrapping and in a plastic shopping bag. His wife was walking it a day later when he passed all that in front of a bunch of kids waiting for a school bus. She was mortified.

I too owned a glass-eating dog, but I did not know it until years after the fact. My sister had convinced me to adapt a stray that she found six months previously. The dog was a mix of Australian Shepherd and Collie, as best we as could figure. The dog was absolutely wonderful but he had a touchy stomach and we had to be careful about his diet. Years later, my sister sheepishly confessed: the dog ate a pair of glasses. She found came home and found a mangled plastic frame, but both glass lenses were entirely missing. The vet dismissed the idea the that George ate the lenses and besides, the glass would not show up on x-rays. My sister wasn’t convinced, so she fed George lots of bread and for days and washed out all the poop in strainers while sifting for evidence. Sure enough, long thin shards of curved glass emerged looking like scimitars. Small wonder the dog had a touchy stomach, but he lived to at least 14 years.
I never had a dog that wasn’t food motivated and have concluded that dogs are idiots (but I love them anyway!).
Ours is 8 1/2 and weighs 98lbs. He’s a lovable, goof ball.
I love them anyway, too. My current dog is not that much of a chowhound and has never stolen anything.
I do remember a photo of someone who owned a black lab who made a Christmas card out her dog’s xray - he had eaten the Xmas lights...

Multiball! My Chocolate Lab loved that, throwing a handful of tennis balls at once. He had to stuff them all in his mouth and wouldn’t come back for another throw until he did. I miss him so.
We had a yellow lab that was so very special. Wonderful dog but could not leave butter on the counter.
