The Daily Beast ^ | 04/28/2016 | Lloyd Grove

Posted on 04/28/2016 1:12:44 PM PDT by austinaero

The axe fell once again on Glenn Beck’s crumbling media empire Thursday as employees in the New York and Washington offices of The Blaze, Beck’s multi-media online operation, along with business staffers in Los Angeles and the documentary unit in Columbus, Ohio, were told their jobs are on the chopping block, according to multiple sources who spoke The Daily Beast on condition of anonymity.

Because he disagrees with you about Trump? That's shameful.

First--I was being silly. It was a joke. I don't really want anyone's mouth super glued shut. Maybe my wife when she's yelling at me, but that goes away when we make up...

But let's be serious for a moment. Whatever Levin has done in the past is being completely undone by his current actions. Cruz and Kasich have no path to the nomination. None. By continually pushing for Cruz and attacking Trump he's doing nothing but hurting the Republican party and making a Hillary presidency more likely. I don't know if he's doing it because he's just petulant because his chosen candidate isn't winning, whether he's taking payola, or whether he's going senile. It doesn't matter, much like his "decades" fighting for conservatism won't matter if Hillary is elected. So yes, it means nothing.

(FYI I would have been happy with Trump, Cruz, or any of several other R candidates, but the actions of Cruz and his supporters have soured me on his candidacy.)

The difference for Levin is he does not own the network or syndicator.

He is paid talent.

Beck, on the other hand owns his stuff.

Levin will survive. But with a greatly reduced audience.

It’s because all the radio hosts promote real conservatism, just like Cruz. It’s not rocket science.

i hear 8 or 10 major market’s radio ever year and hear Beck on all of them, doing commercials for local real estate agents, gold purveyors, etc., etc, “The only real estate agent I recommend in XYZ.”

If I were to guess, he’s earning a talent fee for each advertiser of $5,000. Who knows...maybe $10gs for Glenn’s royalty fee. Multiplied by hundreds and hundreds...resulting in mega 100 G’s in sideline income alone.

Agreed, it’s not our fault that these guys are throwing away their careers for short-term gain. Dude utterly betrays me and I’m supposed to thank him and tell him he’s great? That’s how liberals act with their commentators and politicians, I’m not going to do it.

I miss Neil and his Church of the painful truth show.

I enjoyed his show so much.

Levin (before I kicked him to the curb) did the same thing. Right in the middle of a discussion about The Constitution, he’d suddenly say, “But there’s something I gotta tell you first. Serta mattresses are great and the only thing I sleep on...” Or it was something about investing in gold. No segue, right in the middle of the show, he’d hard turn into an ad. It was bizarre and kinda jarring. That format sucks. Keep the ads separate from the show, what he does is disturbing.

Beck didn't try to have it both ways, he tried to have it all kinds of ways. He's almost completely driven by his emotions. Never a good thing, when you're subject to massive mood swings it's even worse.

They get paid extra for those ads. They're supposedly more effective because dim bulbs believe the host is sincere. And if you blend the ad into the show it's not as easy to switch stations, you can't be sure when he'll get back on topic.

Or maybe you should open your eyes about Trump being a life long Democrat, progressive, constitutional illiterate and in general abject tyrant. For crying out loud the man doesn’t even know what kind of government he is trying to be President of.

Feel bad for the employees, most of which just need the paycheck and are well aware of the nutcase they work for.

Beck is toast.

The damage Levin has done to his own show is permanent, even if he does manage to soon pull himself together.

Unhinged does not cut it.

The whole project always struck me as somewhat delusional. I remember him describing Mercury Radio when it was first announced by making comparisons to Orson Welles, and thinking, does he remember what happened to Orson Welles and his career?

Not that long ago the Levin threads on here went on and on. Now they may get 30 posts? If that?

I agree. Recently saw Michelle Malkin speak at DeSales University & she was fair to Trump.

Or maybe you should open your eyes and notice that “principled conservative” Ted Cruz campaigned to enabled the secret “trade” agenda of most lawless POTUS in history. That you can’t see Ted Cruz’s deeply dishonest behavior on TPA just proves the old adage that loving eyes can never see.
