I recently got free subscriptions to “Car and Driver” and “Motor Trend”. It has been so long since I kept up with what we used to call “muscle cars” that I was not prepared for the incredible horsepower of newer cars.

The part that is even more surprising is how small some of the engines are. I think just about all the super cars now have turbos or superchargers.

I went to that show once when I lived in Geneva. It’s a wonder my oldest son even has a face. Picture your local convention center, CHOCK FULL OF PEOPLE. Now picture 90% of them smoking as they walk around. Picture a mom (me) with a stroller. Where are all the casually held cigarettes in relation to my boy’s face?? I needed a train’s cattle guard on that stroller! I couldn’t enjoy the cars!

The new supercar comes loaded with a 1,500-horsepower W16 engine for 0-62 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds

Easy rule of thumb approximation: an acceleration of 1g is 20 mph per second.

62 ÷ 2.5 = 24.8 mph per second, or a sustained acceleration of 1.24g.

Bugatti Chiron
The new supercar comes loaded with a 1,500-horsepower W16 engine for 0-62 mph acceleration in 2.5 seconds and a maximum speed of 261 mph. It’s expected to sell for around $2.6 million.

Comes with a free lifetime membership to the More Money Than Brains Club, I'm pretty sure.
