What's the status of Donald Trump's campaign promises?
CBS News ^ | April 22, 2016, | REENA FLORES

Like anyone who has ever decided to run for president, Donald Trump is a man who makes promises. Some are bold and stunning: he'll build a 50-foot high wall along the United States' southern border -- and he'll get Mexico to pay for it! If he wins the presidency, in his first term, he'll knock out Obamacare, Common Core, the Environmental Protection Agency, and defund Planned Parenthood! He'll even force cookie company Nabisco to make its Oreos in America again!

It's hard to predict whether he will be able to deliver on those pledges after the election. But it might be instructive to look at the promises he's made that are purely operative during the campaign cycle. He has discarded some, deferred others, and kept only parts of others. Here are just a few of them:

Okay. What’s the status of Ted Cruz’, Hillary Clinton’s, Bernie Sanders’ and John Kasich’s Promises?

Why just Trump? Why just now? Why?

Because deep in their hearts they ALL fear him. They all know he can and likely will!

You pile up enough tomorrows, and you’ll find you are left with nothing but a lot of empty yesterdays.

I don’t know about you, but I’d like to make today worth remembering.

Because of the sad state of the country, there will be many twists and turns during the eight years of a Trump Presidency.

But the end will be a returning the United States to the land of the free; the home of the brave.

And political correctness - RIP.

Aren’t campaign promises made to describe things that will be done after the candidate is elected?

D’oh!

What’s the status of the accuracy in this Reena Flores article? Very poor. The writer obviously either hasn’t done due diligence or is deliberately ignoring context.

If he does half of what he says, we are much better off then today.

Why just Trump? Why just now? Why?

Wh? Well let's see:

1. According to a majority here on FR, Trump is the presumptive nominee, so Ted Cruz and john kasick's promises are moot.

2. No one else running has made as many or (to the media and others) so many big and in some cases over the top promises.(Hey I like alot of them myself).

3. Why not Hillary or Bernie? Seriously? They're demonrats, the protected class.

4. Why now? See number 1, since Trump is the presumptive nominee the liberal press can waste no time in attacking and attempting to marginalize him.

Those were all rhetorical questions weren't they?

1. According to a majority here on FR, Trump is the presumptive nominee, so Ted Cruz and john kasick's promises are moot

In most eyes here but not media and the odd hold out. So fair time on all sides is still technically viable, n'est pas?

2. No one else running has made as many or (to the media and others) so many big and in some cases over the top promises.(Hey I like alot of them myself).

Why make promises when you can manipulate delegates without the hassle of addressing real voters' concerns?

3. Why not Hillary or Bernie? Seriously? They're demonrats, the protected class

Why just apply this logic against Trump then and for the implied benefit to Cruz with no holding to the same standard to Democrats - the presumed possible opponents for a wild card Cruz nomination?

4. Why now? See number 1, since Trump is the presumptive nominee the liberal press can waste no time in attacking and attempting to marginalize him.

While presumption is practical, there are still the realities that certain other candidates will never cede genuine voter defeat. Then it is incumbent on us to at least consider the questions being asked of candidate Trump- -as- presumptive-nominee should also be applied to those engineering convention machinations against him.

Where are all the ranchers along the border excited that they’ve been asked for easements for the wall? That’s a year long process in itself, or more, what with flood plain considerations.

Trump's been known to cut red tape and get things done early. And most of those ranchers are living fear of thier lives with all the cartel traffic coming across thier land. They'll welcome a wall ASAP.

Then it would be assuring and moralizing if ranchers were being asked for easements now instead of a year from now.

So at least half your responses are cut’s at Cruz? I guess Trump can’t be the presumptive winner after all if Cruz still needs to be hacked at. Funny, I guess you saw my points in a different light, I didn’t try to cut at your chosen, just make valid points as I see them concerning Trump, but for some reason you felt the need to counter with comments about Cruz, people must worry about him alot.

No, you didn’t ‘cut’ Trump as you say, but your overly concerned questions about what is Donald Trump’s impact on this with no regard to any other candidate signifies you accept him as the nominee or you don’t and are looking to find any way you can to diminish him.

Trump can’t be the winner if Cruz is still working the delegate system for a convention in which he will not enter with anywhere near a clear majority of delegates for the first round. Cruz, you, and his supporters are all banking on ‘rules’ and Trump denigration (even to the point of helping Democrats) instead of real voter votes and you are working to effect that.
