You must not know any of the thousands of heavily armed native Texans. The ones who know and remember Texas history.
If immigrants come to the US in small numbers, they, or at least their children, are forced to learn English and assimilate just to function and survive. When you open the gates and let millions pour in across the border, they can set up their mini-nations (and eventually take over entire regions) where there is no need to do that. Good parts of the southwest are "USA" only in a legal sense. Culturally, politically, linguistically, and even economically, they are basically part of Mexico.
Unfortunately, you're probably right. Consider income taxes. If you told folks back in 1900 that they must immediately pay 1/4 of their incomes to the government, there would be a rebellion.
But if the taxes start out low, and are raised slowly over time, no one really notices or cares.
That sort of thing is going on now. Freedoms are slowly being taken away, and PC controls are slowly being implimented. Few people notice, or care.

What you are pointing out is the doctrine of “Gradualism.” AKA the nose of the camel in the tent. It works! However, propaganda and PR techniques have greatly assisted a leftist take over.
Go to any grocery store, restaurant, etc, in Texas, and this is what you’ll find.
Heck...not just TX....last time we were in HI.....yes, HI.....same thing. The busgirl knew NO English. I asked her (in Spanish), and she said no. I asked her how long she’d been living in the US. She said just over a month.

My wife came home the other day saying that a cashier with an empty line directed her to another line because her line was apparently only taking wet back customers. At least that is what my wife inferred since when she went to the other line the same cashier waved her wet back buddies to her.
I believe this was also at HEB.
and what did they say?
“Es OK.” That is what we usually get when the eff up royally.
And, it’s not just the floor sweepers/workers in these grocery stores who speak ONLY espanol. The SHOPPER’S do, as well.
During my recent visit to HEB, I noticed that MANY of the customers spoke spanish, and had the grandma’s and a gaggle of small kids in tow. I asked one lady, in English, if she knew where something was (I can’t remember what the item was) and she said “no English”.
I’ve also noticed many Mexican nationals shopping at the Galleria (Houston)....more than the normal/average amount.
The gates are open, and it’s Olly, Olly in come free. Maybe this explains the apartment boom, all across the country.
Are you talking about the one in Odessa.. they were trying to dig a water well and instead took out anything within a 100 meters?

Some who claim not to speak English actually can understand and speak more than they claim. Some use it as a dodge to not do the parts of work they don’t want to do, or maybe to not be bothered by answering questions.
Am not for illegals working. At HEB or anywhere else they get Minimum Wage, but unlike our yutes and unskilled “citizens”, the biggest reason the illegals are hired is because THEY ACTUALLY WORK.
Many of us do! Patriots have never been a majority of any population.
However, it takes organization, leadership and discipline.
Worked on many a pipeline and never was it the backhoe operator’s responsibility to ID where existing lines were. Where was your Safety guy?
When you go to HomeDepot and have to turn every can around to find the english lettering...we are already down the toilet!!
I have not been to Miami in over 30 years, but even then there were large areas where no one spoke English.
