I’m starting to see the music I listened to from the late 60s/early 70s thrown into the same bin...and I’m in my mid-forties...
Obviously, tastes vary. I have an aversion to that middle-of the road, "easy-listening" rock sound. So for me, Steve Miller falls into the same category of aural unpleasantness as bands like the Eagles. Not saying it has to be heavy -- I just want it to elicit some feeling other than relaxation.
I worked for a high end electronic place car stereos alarms radio telephones back in the day got to meet those two and a parade of others good times
Right, it’s not my favorite for sure. But do you see the difference between not digging someone’s music and whether they are worthy to be in some sort of hall of fame? Steve Miller is waaaaay above so many complete stiffs that are already in. Good grief at this point it’s almost an honor that some cool acts aren’t in and equivalent to the absolute drek that’s been inducted.

And you're right, some of the bands that have been left out are a crime considering who has gotten in.
Exactly. There’s players in baseball hall that are probably borderline. But no one is an actual bad ball player.
The crime is that any cool acts that should have been in long ago actually still show up and accept. They should be like ‘we have too much respect for our true fans to rub shoulders with the utter drek that the hall chose over good stuff for so many years. Take your lame hall and shove it.’
I would be great if acts started to ask to be removed, too.

I'm pretty much mid-60's to late 70s. My 14YO son likes the music as well. We both enjoyed our trip to Sun Studio in Memphis last year, followed by seeing the traveling road show of "Million Dollar Quartet" in Tyler the following week.
Rock & Roll died many, many moons ago.

Maybe the mass produced version.
There is plenty of fine rock and roll being played every night in clubs all across America.
You can hear some of it on Richard Taylor’s Roots Rock Radio shows, podcasts also if you are so inclined.
I’m not Richard, but I know him. He was kind enough to include a few tunes from my band (our band if the other freeper member is reading) over the years.
Yeah I don’t see them pimping hip hop
If you only know Steve Miller from his Seventies hit singles, try listening to him from 1968 for something a bit more “heavy.”

William Royce Scaggs (known professionally as Boz Scaggs; born June 8, 1944) is an American singer, songwriter, and guitarist.[1] He gained fame in the 1960s as a guitarist and one-time lead singer with the Steve Miller Band, and in the 1970s with several solo Top 20 hit singles in the United States, including the hits “Lowdown” and “Lido Shuffle” from the critically acclaimed album Silk Degrees (1976), which peaked at #2 on the Billboard 200. Scaggs continues to write, record music, and tour.[2]
Oof. Oh well.
Time for new heroes.
Tell me King Crimson isn’t in! :-D
The Sex Pistols were inducted, but the band didn’t show up for the induction and wrote public letter saying they had no desire to be in it.
Yup. Other bands should be doing this. Cool acts that are already in alongside the stiffs should be clamoring to be publicly expelled.

And for those who only know Boz from his lite rock era, here’s something from him in 1969, with guitar provided by some guy named Duane. It starts out slow but then gets smokin’.
