I love George Clinton but he does not belong in the rarhofAgree on both counts. But I read the eligibility requirements and there is no requirement to actually be a rocker. They don't take a stab at even defining the genre as far as I could tell. I think it's just whoever they want in from popular music. I think at this point most of the low hanging fruit has been picked. Though I didn't see Boston and a few others.

Yes is not in the HOF? That’s just wrong!

I retreated back into the 50s & 60s R&R, and Classical Music, for the next several decades. Now, my stuff’s called “Golden Oldies”. Yuk.

Yes is not in the HOF? Thats just wrong!Agreed. Bands like Yes, Jethro Tull, Doobie Brothers, Roxy Music, helped me survive my tour in Germany, and they're keeping me alive today.
I basically went without TV for four years from 77-81, because I lived more than 10 miles off base. I usually bought a dozen albums at the Base Exchange every month, and mixed my own tapes. I've got at least a dozen boxes of cassettes in the garage.
These bands are keeping me alive today, too. My major source of exercise involves walks of 5-10 miles several times a week. Virtually every one of my playlists starts with the live version of "Siberian Khatru" by Yes. Damn, that song rocks.

Put ELO on that walklist, and The Allman Bros.

Regardless of who does or doesn't get into the HOF, this is a golden age for music listeners.
Just about any song you ever loved is available for free on YouTube or for a small fee via some download service.
There are tons of great new rock bands making all kinds of music. New genres and odd mixes of old genres coming up every year.
Those who like a particular kind of rock can find a wealth of cover bands, tribute bands, bands playing new songs in old styles, etc. And if you want to hear something you've never heard anything like before, that's also available.
My current fave new discovery is Parquet Courts. Anyone who claims this isn't rock and roll is stuck in some horrible ear rut...

Allman Brothers are on my playlist, never got into ELO. I’ll check them out...thanks.

So it seems like the HOF took the time to collect a bunch of tapes and recordings of Miller's "illustrious" career in order to honor him, but then neglected to pay him for showing the tapes and playing the recordings.
There is something really wrong with copyright laws if Miller can make a case for getting paid for seeing his own tribute.

Rush is in...their induction is on YouTube....they played Tom Sawyer....sounded like Gaddy should have hung up the mic years ago.

Agreed, it’s not so much about rock and roll anymore.

Steve Miller complains that being inducted to the Rock and Roll HOF is nowhere near as pleasant as really loving her peaches and shaking her tree. #ImAJoker

Glad to see Chicago finally made.
Unfortunately, the one person who was the most responsible for them being in the HoF wasn’t there for the ceremony. Of course, I’m referring to the late Terry Kath.

Why is it called the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame anyway? Why can't it just be called the Music Hall of Fame?
Agreed - call it the Popular Music Hall of Fame and be done with it. Rock and roll seems to be pretty much dead these days anyway, sticking with that label gives this "Hall of Fame" a pretty limited future.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is mostly interesting for induction speeches (I was just watching Jimmy Page's speech for Jeff Beck a few weeks ago on YouTube). I was never a fan of Steve Miller's, not of the music or the personality that came across in interviews, but it's nice to see that he's still got things to complain and pontificate about after all these years.

That’s cool. I think Yes is an acquired taste. Which I have acquired. Some music is just too deep to appreciate right off. I’m ashamed to admit it but I didn’t appreciate Rush at first either until I was “ready” to understand how truly brilliant it was.

Bob Seger is in, but the members of his Silver Bullet Band are not....which is an injustice. They are just as good, or better than Springsteen’s E Street Band which is in the R&RHOF.

I saw the Steve Miller Band in San Francisco in the summer of 1968. Sure didn’t know about his impressive musical background.

Considering they include Rap, they could call it the “Music and Other cRAP Hall of Fame.”
