Gopher and Isaac could have saved that episode.

I agree with most, this episode was boring and Talking Dead is so subdued and quiet it’s just not the same. I already want to throw the mother overboard, she reminds me of Andrea when she used to get annoying and Walking Dead killed her off sooner than she died in the comics, so either improve the character or get rid of her!

“These people are still obnoxious as they were last season”.

I watched last night with the hopes of calming down my WD “withdrawl”. That being said, I had a difficult time with WD the first season (truth be known... I despised Darrel in the first season and he is now one of my favorites) I think it may take time for the characters to develop into what they truly “are” (does that make sense?). Anyways, water zombies freak me out! I am hoping this evolves into a good show.

Didn’t think of that. But why did the zombie suddenly let go of nick?

Exactly.

These are totally "luck of the draw" survivors from one of the two most urbanized populations in the country. They're SUPPOSED to be clueless, self-absorbed, and solitary!

They don't have Southern culture as a social binder; they don't even share the ties of a common ethnicity. They are, each and every one, moral "free-agents" which is probably why no FReeper can stand them.

The writer's challenge here is how to choreograph them into a cohesive "tribe" that we'll care about.

“So why are you still watching? Masochist, or just looking for something to bitch about?”

You got a problem with my comments? Are you offended because your boyfriend works on the show? Too freaking bad.

“They’re eating the eel the old man caught.”

That eel was the best character on the show.

Good point. These are Angelenos we're talking about. They don't come more self-absorbed than that.

It’s the same format he used for Breaking Bad , TWD , and the first episode of Better Call Saul . It’s what he does .

FWIW, and not that my opinion is the right one....

....I think that the characters are unlikeable for a reason - this show is more situational, whereas the original is 100% character-driven. "Fear", approximately, is: "There's a Zombie Apocalypse, how do these (completely generic and interchangeable) people deal with it????". Whereas, the original is: "There's a Zombie apocalypse, how do these people deal with each other?"

Two completely different premises, and they should be looked at, as such. Also, we all need to remember that there were some pretty dry spots in the writing in the original, as well. I almost quit watching in seasons 2 and 3....

All that being said, I figure that most of these people are going to get eaten, certainly by the end of next season. Strand, the Dad, and Ruben Blades' character will probably make it, unless the producers decide to off one as a ratings cliffhanger. Maybe one of the rest, they'll need to keep up with the female 18-36-year-old demographic.

Everyone else? Zombie chow.

And I bet we've not seen the last of Tobias.

I agree with you 100%. Assuming the show doesn’t get cancelled the characters will become more likable as the urban feeling of superiority gets shaved off. They will become more real.

There are jokes that there are shows that have smart people do stupid stuff for the sake of the plot - and that’s a sign of lazy writing.
And then there are characters who do stupid stuff all the time as part of comic relief - but that’s not a good plan for a zombie show unless a planned zombie comedy like “iZombie” or “Zombieland”.

Water dulls their sense of smell. It first alerted because the rope was moved by the kid going for the ships log book. I think he wound p pushing the thing back, and didnt make noise, didnt move, and the thing couldnt smell him because of the water.

No. The reason that most Freepers can't stand these characters is because no one here wants things like character development, and story development and realism. Most people on this site are looking for a survivalist/prepper documentary how-to show. This isn't that.

I swear, I wouldnt trust Freepers with anything even slightly artistic or creative - ever.

I haven’t warmed to anyone but the black guy.

They could all get eaten slowly and I would not care. I WANT to like this show. But these people are so whiney and stupid.
