[Vanity] Two things I just don't get: Why Obama has 52% approval and why Bernie Sanders is so popul
4-10-16 | Me, Myself, & I

Posted on 04/09/2016 9:36:49 PM PDT by EinNYC

I personally find it both bewildering and frightening that Odungo could have systematically trashed our economy, international standing, military, health (importing diseased illegals wholesale to spread diseases to us), sovereignty, safety from terrorists, and safety from criminals, vastly ramped up racism, trampled on our Constitution and expressed absolute contempt for America---yet approval polls for him range from 46% to 52% approval, depending on the poll you look at. Who are these polls polling? Or is America completely brain dead by now?

I also do not understand (a vast understatement) how someone who was an absolute failure, could not hold a job until the age of 40, could garner such widespread support as a presidential candidate, especially among very young voters. That would be the bum Sanders. Makes me want to put the voting age back up to 21 or even older. All this guy talks about is free this, free that, etc. Can you imagine THIS simplistic moron in charge of our nuclear arsenal? In charge of our economy? In charge of our military? I wouldn't trust him to administer a garbage dump. He would bankrupt the country into non-existence. China and Russia would be thrilled to be able to conquer us without a shot being fired. Muzzies would pass out candy to celebrate America's demise. What DISEASE is infecting American minds, that they would even consider, let alone exuberantly support, a moron like Sanders or a crook like Shrillary?

You don’t get it?

It’s quite simple, really - huge numbers of people are *ssholes.

Sorry.

There’s nothing to wonder about.

Media has brainwashed two generations since the 70s.

They won the social values war Big time as I can it among 20 somethings.

most women I know (not FReepers) don’t care for the particulars so the evening sound bites make Obama sound good.

the increase in unskilled third world immigrants is the icing on the cake.

I suspect we are being lied to by those who have a vested
interest in lying to us. - Sanders is an old hippie who
didn’t have a job until he was past forty & he appeals to
the young kids who don’t know any better. His wifey is
high in the “intellectual” circles who specializes in
driving universities into the ground then collecting a big
severance check for her reward. - The Clintons? Bill owes
Hillary - BIG time - for standing by her man; so they’ve
got to stop Bernie. - I doubt Cruz has the broad appeal to
be elected President if he does succeed in getting the
nomination. - If the GOPe thinks they’re going to “install”
Kasich and us lemmings will get out like always before &
vote for this Demlite loser one more time like with Romney,
McCain & the rest of them; well, no. - It’s depressing; the
thought of facing four years of Hillary & First Laddie Bill.

I personally find it both bewildering and frightening that Odungo could have systematically trashed our economy,

The day Obama took office we were several months into a world economic crisis. In the stock market, the Dow Jones Industrial Average stood at 7949.09.

On Friday it closed at 17576.96.

Evidently there are a lot of glass-is-half-full optimistic types who think that the American economy is looking up and has not been trashed.

The situation with jobs is not as good but actually more jobs have been created under Obama than under Bush. Also per capita GDP is up a lot more under Obama.

The US dollar is extremely strong compared with other currencies right now, which means that foreigners also have faith in the US economy compared with their own.

Also the whole situation with our foreign oil dependence has improved dramatically.

So part of Obama's approval rating is due to the fact that people are starting to believe that the economy is actually improving.

Simple, unemployment is coming down. Remember Clinton’s popularity after Monica? It was all about the economy.

Because since 1965 we have been importing a populace whose interest in free stuff vastly outweighs any affection for their new country. Assuming that they consider this their real country. They vote.

That close to a majority (meaning maybe a little more, maybe a little less) of the country approves of Obama should be no surprise, although it is a surprise to those who don't get out of their usual circles of contacts.

Same effect as whoever it was, in the press, who said "But I don't know anybody who voted for Reagan!"

The world is transitioning into a post-patriotism era. That is where the leaders are headed, and the people WILL follow. It's what people do.

I talked to my brother-in-law the other day. He's in Montana and he's had a real hard time finding employees that actually want to work at his nursery and landscaping business at the wages he was willing to pay.

He tells you this as a cover story as an excuse to do the Free Traitor™ and hire illegals at sub standard wages.

It’s very simple. Their supporters are parasites who like free stuff. They are happy to see the government steal from productive people if they get a share of the loot. There is a reason Exodus 20:17 and Deuteronomy 5:21 made the list of the Ten Commandments:

“Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor’s.”

These people are encouraged by liberals to give in to envy, and the far left then uses their envy to control their lives and the rest of us. Obama, Bernie and the rest of the left have that much support because (1) they are appealing to evil and we all have urges in that direction, and (2) good people have not stood up against their evil strongly enough. Government has no authority to redistribute wealth, and decent Americans should not have permitted them to do so.

There are several things in play. People who write on the popularity of Obama and Sanders use sources to show their popularity and those sources most likely do not reflect the general populace. Surveys can be skewed even when they do have a firm statistical basis by the way the question is asked and where it is placed in the stream of questions. In short, the information we are viewing regarding any subject is a snapshot taken through the lens of the author’s prejudice. An excellent source on how this is done can be found in the free audio book, “Public Opinion,” by Walter Lippmann which can be downloaded at the link below.

Exactly. Sin makes people stupid. 60 million dead babies is a lot of sin, and therefore a lot of stupidity.

The simplest answer is the horrible economy; there is little opportunity. Beyond that, there are far fewer Anglos today than in the past, so the WASP ideals are disappearing; today the phrase “personal responsibility” is deemed racist and right-wing.

I live in one of the states where over 25% of the population is foreign-born (NJ); the country I grew up in is long gone. Besides the imported Third Worlders and Welfarians, few productive Anglos are having children - and this trend has gone on for years. Each year a new wave of eighteen year-olds with nothing in common with the Founding Fathers’ ideals becomes eligible to vote - and it plays out in front of our eyes.

Obama was a proven failure after four years, but there were not enough Americans to remove him; we’d crossed a threshold in terms of our electorate.
