His superpowers are readily overcome with even a small amount of kryptonite. There have been innumerable times when Jimmy Olsen or Lois Lane saved Superman's ass.

Ben Affleck. Non-starter.

The movie that would make a fortune is actually Supergirl vs. Batgirl.

Superman might have all the knowledge and wisdom of the known universe, but he’s also incorruptible and generally nice. Batman believes in winning, and will cheat in any way he can.

Of course in the comic they stole the fight from all of Batman’s cheating was really just to make it look good so he could fake his own death, that was his real win, removing himself from the picture. Like I said, Batman cheats. They won’t go that path this movie though, they already showed they only fight long enough for the bad guy and WW to show up.

Good old Hollywood. A matchup between Superman and Batman would last about 0.05seconds, if the characters were true to the original fictional characters. But then that wouldn’t be fun, would it?

I keep mentioning this to my kids. For some reason, they think there can be some sort of contest.

I used to read Superman comics when I was a kid. I recall one edition where he pushed planet Earth out of the way of some sort of space beam, and then pushed it back in place afterward.

I recall another edition where he bored through a mountain with his X-Ray vision. You know, solid rock vaporized by X-Ray beams.

A match-up between Superman and Batman is just nonsense in the comic book universe, and it makes even less sense in ours.

We have become an ignorant culture in which such a contest as this can be suggested.

Exactly. Batman could never beat Superman. Premise is stupid.

But i'm pretty sure the plot line of the movie is going to result in Batman doing exactly that. To bet it goes the other way is anti-climatic.

I don’t get it. Superman and Batman are both supposed to be GOOD GUYS. Why would there be any VS.?

Bruce Wayne was on the ground watching the destruction unleashed by Superman and Zod. I think someone he cared about got in the way. He got pissed. Of course, in his mind, it's all Kalel's fault. So he's on a mission now. Etc. Etc.

My question is...no matter what kind of technology Bruce Wayne has, how can a human stand up to Superman and even hope to defeat him? Superman can accelerate to Mach 8 and then come flying at Batman and go right through him and his technology. Game over.

Superman overstayed his visa and Batman is trying to deport him?

You forget that Batman is smarter than Superman, and everyone knows Superman has an achilles’ heel. Wouldn’t be too hard for Bruce Wayne the billionaire to get ahold of some kryptonite either.

True. Remember the "Black Dahlia" a few years back? The main complaints were that the plot was too convoluted and hard to follow. Yet, that was the sort of plot writing in any detective movie or film noir pre-1960. This is sign of the degrading intellectual levels and increasingly short attention spans of the general public. They can't keep in mind what occurred on the screen 15 minutes ago and so get "lost".

Heath Ledger totally stole the show from Christian Bale.

Ding ding ding. Hated Man of Steel. I’m not even a little tempted to see this. In the theater, on cable . . . never plan to see it.

I do believe that someone with all the knowledge of the Krypton race (intergalactic space flight, advance healthcare and cloning) would be smarter than some billionaire with a cave.

Strength wise Superman can pick up land masses and push them to space I do not think Batman can come up with any prosthetics that can do that.

BTW Ironman is smarter than Batman.

I doubt I'll see this. I don't really like the direction of superhero movies these days, particularly the DC movies. They are too dark and take themselves way too seriously. I liked Batman Begins, but thought The Dark Knight was dreary and boring. I still haven't steeled myself to try to get through almost 3 hours of The Dark Knight Rises.I also did not care for Man of Steel. There was so much non-stop action with Kryptonians knocking each other a mile with every blow, and I got tired of watching buildings fall down.

I really liked Christopher Reeve's first Superman flick. As for Batman, the animated series from the 90's is probably my favorite incarnation of Batman aside from the comics.

Suoerman has access to that knowledge only if he can get to the Fortress of Solitude. If he is groveling or unconcious in a gutter back in Metropolis because of exposure to kryptonite radiation, then he’s completely vulnerable to anything that can harm or kill a human.

Superman may be intelligent, but there is no evidence he has above-average intelligence compared to a typical human, whereas it is a known fact that Batman is exceptionally intelligent. For example, there have been numerous instances of Superman being tricked into a mistake (such as opening a lead container with kryptonite inside) or simply deceived (Superman believing a lie), or making bad judgements (getting drunk or giving up his superpowers to marry Lois).

Not likely - a thoughtful administration of a little Kryptonite by Batman and he would seriously make that Boy Scout bleed.
