March 3, 2016 - As I drove home from work, I noticed a sandhill crane on her nest.
March 5 - The first opportunity to photograph the crane on her nest.
March 11 - Momma crane checks her eggs before settling in for the night.
March 17 - The eggs have hatched. They are receiving parental instruction on what and how to eat.
Crashing for the night!
March 20 - The twins.
Poppa crane was not happy to see me today!

Nipon Kogaku was the original name of Nikon. So you have stuck with the same excellent brand.
Still have one of their excellent rangefinder 35mm cameras, a copy of the German Contax RF.
Thanks for posting these spectacular photos! Where were these taken? I couldn’t spot that in a quick scan of the thread. These Sand Hill Cranes are certainly magnificent. We see a lot of them in the wetlands in Northern California but have never been able to take shots like these!

I started with Pentax and still use a Pentax DSLR. I get really good results with it, and can still use the same lenses that were on my first one in 1980 or so and it was used then...(also have a 35mm Minolta SRT101 that I like pretty well.)
I shoot mostly birds and nature stuff, but no sandhill cranes for 300 miles around here. Right now everything is changing, winter birds leaving, I saw a few Brown Headed Cowbirds a couple of says ago on my feeder so some of the summer birds have made it in.

No but I remember our 1970 era college track team manager took a lot of photos of the team using a Yashica camera he had purchased while in Viet Nam.
He shared them with the team and I still have some of them.

I always mark the true start of spring by the arrival of the Robbins here in CT. They were early this year, 3/3 or 3/4, whereas they normally don’t arrive until on or about 3/20. I usually see about a half dozen in the lawn, and they stay a long time! But night before last, just before dusk, 17 hung out here for about a half hour or so, everyone eating worms. I could clearly see it was a good mix of male/female, and I’m hoping they all stay. They looked a bit thin but soon they will have big fat bellies, and if all goes well, I’ll be watching them feed their babies on my garden railings for several weeks this summer!
