Very dangerous. A friend of mine died a few years ago after one of these make shift flamethrowers blew up in his hand. The explosion disabled him but it was the ensuing fire that killed him. No one was around to save him.

There’s a difference between being safe and being reckless. Using one of these is dangerous. The flame can easily seep into the can and make the whole thing blow up.

You do realize that wasps, hornets and yellow jackets are responsible for the yeast that makes your beer. They may not be the pollinators that honey bees are, but without them you would have no wine, beer or anything else that needs yeast to ferment. They store yeast in their guts and spread it to fruit, berries, and grains as they visit these items.
I am sorry about your friend and saddened that some think this is a cool idea and evidently anyone who does not approve of playing with fire is a wimp. Someone who who works with a fire department or emergency room could tell anyone who would listen that “experiments” with fire often have bad consequences.

Hmmmm. I've used Wasp and Hornet spray, very effective . Never heard of Dawn being used.
I was impressed at how well the nest withstood the flames. It looks like it could still have been usable with some remodeling and repair.
This is like holding an incendiary grenade in front of your face and tampering with it and hoping it does not explode. Really bad idea.
I saw a 8” hornet’s nest on the underside of the roof adjacent to the door of the equipment shed at the hotel. Was gonna leave it be until one flew up behind my glasses and nailed me beside my left eye. One hour and 2 large cans of Gumout carburetor cleaner, they were reduced to a pile of dead hornets beneath their nest on the concrete shed pad. GD things, anyhow. Three of the waitresses watched through the glass hallway wall, and were properly horrified. One actually felt sorry for ‘those poor bugs’ writhing and dying and I wanted to slap her butt and throw a handful of those dead nasty things at her, har!
Wasps n hornets have an oily body to repel water. This is so they can breathe through their pores.
The dawn strips the oils, and the water coats their bodies suffocating them. It also weighs down their wings preventing flying.
It's best done at sunrise before they are fully active.
hmmm interesting, so you just mix this up? how much dawn? and then throw it on them?
