Help me understand: Why do YOU support Donald Trump?
Self

Posted on 02/27/2016 10:57:00 AM PST by sampai

As far as I can tell, Donald Trump is an unprincipled vulgarian. He would make a big show of deporting illegal aliens, only to "let the good ones back in." He supports single-payer healthcare. Before he flipped on the issue, he wanted to admit tens of thousands of Syrian "refugees." He has very un-American strongman tendencies.

Yet he's leading in the Republican primaries. So please help me understand: How would President Trump be better than, say, President Cruz?

If you can't see that the uni-party, their lobbyists, and donors control the people and not the other way around, there is no hope for you and this Nation. Trump offers the only hope for the people to wrest power back from the DC elites. Period.

When Cruz got clobbered in South Carolina that spelled the end of his presidential campaign. Now he’s reduced to being Waterboy Marco’s wingman.

You think Trump is actually running for President!?!? Six months from now he will bow out and admit that this was all a filming for the next Borat-style film. It will be a blockbuster. HUUUUUUUGE! This way he can make some real money cause there isn’t much money in actually being President.

“Touchback” is what Trump is proposing, which is the Democrats proposal. The only difference is the DEMS didn’t say “we’re sending them back” they gave it a name. Just like Donald’s insurance proposal, the one where he said, “we have to get rid of the lines around the states”, there is a name for that, Interstate Sale of Health Insurance.”

There are only two options here, either Trump has no idea what to call these, which makes him not quite as smart as he says he is OR he thinks he is so much smarter than the PEEPS so he dumbs it down for the “poorly educated.”

He supported Justice Roberts?

He had nothing to do with Justice Roberts. He was confirmed before Cruz was even Senator.
As far a religion goes, what the hell are you doing in Free Republic because here we support religious freedom.
Oh, did you hear? Elizabeth Warren supports Donald Trump too. So according to you certain supporters make the candidate an ass.
Your hypocrisy is astounding.

You do know that after he deports the illegals, he has said he will bring back the ‘good ones’ and expedite the process for them.

“Trump is running on securing the border, negotiating trade deals advantageous to the American people, following our current immigration laws, taking good care of our Vets, narrowing the horrendous regulations on our small businesses and reigning in the corruption and bloat of the EPA, IRS, VA, Dept. of Ed. and other grossly overgrown departments of our government.”

Number 1. He is your best chance to change DC culture that has a lasting and profound effect. You won’t get it from Cruz or Rubio. It will be DC Beltway business as usual from these guys as they don’t have the ability.

Trumpists adore Trump because they’re angry and want a king to destroy it all.

They don’t want a George Washington. They want a Napoleon.

They are tired of “the establishment,” and their broken promises, and want it all broken. They want a violent revolution. Not a God-inspired one like our American Revolution, but a bloody secular one like the French Revolution.

The Vulgarian promises to do that, using the crassest, most ham-handed language. And the masses go wild ... :-/

I love religious freedom. That's why I support Trump over Cruz. I want to be free from the Seven Mountains Dominionism that Cruz aspires to inflict on the country.

So now we find out that Trump hires foreign workers for his business in Florida, this while he talks of bringing back jobs, go figure.

Well. At the very least, nominating Trump will punish the GOP for decades of malfeasance.

That’s good enough for me. If we are lucky Trump may do one or two things that he promises. That would be more than we get from most politicians.

I don't. But I heard a "man in the street" interview on cable where somebody, hardly a member of the GOP elite, say that he was supporting Trump because he didn't expect anything positive from Ted Cruz. Probably because Ted's made his career saying "no." That works here. That plays with people who are ideologically committed. But it doesn't go over well with real world voters who aren't committed members of an ideological camp. So that may be one reason why Trump is leading and Cruz is number three.

Another is that the "true conservative" approach isn't working. People are what they are politically within a given context. Change the context and they may change what they are. People who are with you to move the ball to a goal line 100 yards away, won't be if you move the goal post 5 miles away (or 5 inches, for that matter). Most Americans -- most Republicans -- don't want to go as far as Ted so they aren't with him. Also they don't think Ted can do what he promises, so they discount him as somebody who overpromises.

And personality counts for a lot, too. I don't know why so many people overlook Donald Trump's bad qualities, but it's clear that they aren't overlooking Ted's.

Let me add to your list that Trump now wants to crack down of Free Speech by changing the libel laws to make it easier to sue the press for the stories they write. http://www.politico.com/blogs/on-media/2016/02/donald-trump-libel-laws-219866#ixzz41NFBSVoS

He fights.

...

Yes, and this election is all about war with the Washington establishment. Trump could retire and live a very enjoyable life, but I believe he is running to fix America, and give back in exchange for the opportunity he received.

Cruz is good, but even he has donors who will expect favors.
