Tell her to move to Pluto so she can get better TV.
See #20
Unless she is getting Sunday ticket or maybe special language/international programming, I'd think Dish would be cheaper.
Might be worthwhile to call Dish and find out what they charge for a comparable package.
You mentioned Direct TV.
What about Dish Network?
Hills. It’s Tenneessee. (A place I miss very much.)
I don’t believe DIRECT TV actually operates an Internet service but partners with HughesNet.
Let me see some of those photos from Pluto.
Storms with heavy cloud cover, wind blowing antenna out of alignment, trees in the way.......
Yes, it’s actually Hughes. From what I’ve read and seen, sux.
The TV signal in pretty good.
Tried 3 different computers when I was down there. A PC and 2 mac laptops.
Watching the ‘network’ icon it was on-off-on-off-on-off..........
Late in the evening, 11pm and on it got fairly consistent.
Think there’s another Co with different satellites that is better.
Looking into it for them. They are even less comp savvy than me.
The bad part is they have spotty cell signal also. If that can be fixed they might be able to create a ‘hotspot’ WiFi connection at their house.
The dish especially on Hughesnet has to be set in perfect alignment where with TV you are feeding from three birds and split the difference between them and they still work. Trees are also a factor. I have a White Pine that blocks out my locals. I can move the dish 30 feet away or cut the tree. I don't careabout local stations so I leave it be.
If the alignment is poor problems will show up more on cloudy or rainy days and we've been having those. To be honest on the TV part I loose maybe an hour a year on signal tops. Several things can be wrong. Improper alignment, loose connectors on the LNB {the weird looking arm on the dish with the cup on it} or the receiver could have issues where it is failing.
Where I'm at I'm stuck on dial up. I'm on the nortest slope of a high ridge with lots of trees behind me. But I do get Direct TV signal real good but I also use an in line signal amp. Very cheap and efficient. Cable is a half mile away and Comcast has no intentions of expanding. DSL from Ma Bell isn't gonna happen in my area either. Cell signals are hit and miss. The nearest tower is nearly 5 miles from me.
Yes but NASA has bigger dishes.
