New York is falling down
American Thinker ^ | 2/9/16 | David Lawrence

Tonight I walked onto the subway and saw the car was half-empty because a stinking bum was lying on a seat, and no one wanted to smell him.

Rome fell. New York is falling down. It is filled with illegalities and filth as a result of the good intentions and failed ideas of liberals. Politicians pretend to want the best while they deliver the worst.

De Blasio and New York City Council speaker Melissa Mark-Mark-Vivirito have decriminalized public urination and quality-of-life offenses. Are they kidding? De-civilizing a beautiful city is not a positive. It is a fall from grace.

The Broken Windows theory states that small crimes lead to major crimes. De Blasio and Mark-Vivirito should study sociology. Their ignorance is ruining our city.

They pretend to be kind to the poor while they destroy their lives and leave them scantily clothed with no toilet paper on street corners. They whisper sweet things in bums ears while they throw their lives into sewers.

De Blasio and Mark-Vivirito want to lower the quality of life in New York. They are doing a good job at making New York into a third-world country.

I saw Martha Plimpton’s one woman show there (she’s a fine singer!) I couldn’t get over the beauty of that room! Absolutely stunning.

And which candidate always wears a suit and tie, white or blue dress shirt, in all his appearances? Trump. I've seen all his rallies on YouTube and two or three times he's been tieless--out of doors, warm days. But still in a suit.

I think that it's respectful when you present yourself to someone, like voters, asking for something, a man wears a suit and tie. It's a sign of respect and respectability.

Candidates in blue jeans and fleece jackets---it shows disrespect to the people they are asking to hire them: the voters.

We are in the Greek Play phase of history where parties, elections, debate, discussion, the expression of different points of view are rapidly becoming meaningless. Do you yourself believe anything said by the current occupant of the White House?

Good Golly Miss Marmelstein, are we having a cranky morning? LOL! Given enough time NYC will crumble to ruins regardless of who is in charge and that is an indisputable fact. Corrupt liberal Democrats and their associated “socialist” policies have the capability to greatly accelerate the process as we have seen with Detroit. But I do apologize profusely for causing you distress this morning.

Of course I don’, however, that doesn’t cause me to begin thinking of ‘other methods’ to regain our nation’s barrings.

Look at what is happening to us and our children; i.e. diversity-(meaning discrimination against us and our children in schooling, employment and media)- Go to the people orchestrating the discrimination and say let us discuss , debate, express different points of view, and then expect them to say “Oh Fie” we are wrong and will immediately change. I say it again normal political means are bankrupt, it is sad, tragic and horrible. 600,000 died out of a population base of about 35,000,000 in 1861 to 1865. With modern weapons imagine the carnage of the next one. Yet, it will happen, when who knows?

Yes, I get really sick of the NYC hate-a-thon. I also hate the idea that foul mouthed, cynical, rude Trump is an expression of New York (most NYers are a heck of a lot more polite than people I meet elsewhere).

I do think there’s a problem now, but it’s due to de Blasio and his cultivation of the thug class and the “homeless.” I don’t know why he thinks this is politically advantageous, but he obviously feels he’s playing to some kind of base.

So in his rhetoric, NYPD has become the major villain, and suddenly NY is not enforcing things like not peeing on the streets and not jumping turnstiles because we’re being culturally sensitive and these are black cultural things? Excuse me? I bet most black New Yorkers would beg to disagree.

The Democrats are going to do for New York what they did for the former richest city in the world, Detroit.
Not even close. Detroit's economy is (was) based almost exclusively on auto manufacturing.
While the Dems, the unions and even the auto companies, have hurt the city, the Japanese and Koreans are more to blame.

By the way “other methods” at this time means organize and find leaders willing to take all necessary steps and have the wisdom to know when to do so.

It is not going to happen as much as you would hope. It is the international headquarters of business and finance that survived 9/11. Its top industries are financial services, scientific & tech services, healthcare, retail, food trade, advertising, insurance and real estate. Fashion, film and theater, art and other cultural endeavors are centered here. Add to that the thousands upon thousands of mom & pop, small businesses that run like a river through the entire city and you have a town very much unlike Detroit which really had one industry going for it.

You only cause yourself distress by being abysmally ignorant. Prejudice is not knowledge.

Yes, New Yorkers get in the habit of dressing UP. I’m sure Trump’s wardrobe is somewhat limited in terms of casual clothes. This summer he wore khakis with his standard blue blazer thrown over it. Someone not too long ago expressed the idea that Casual Fridays are unheard of in NYC. Certainly, I never experienced it in all my years working in Manhattan. Rubio looks like Beaver Cleaver in his little sweaters.

Miss Marmelstein, You have misunderstood me completely. New York City is indisputably still the greatest city in the world. I wish New York City or its residents no ill what so ever. I will tell you however that there is no place in the world that corrupt liberal politicians and their associated policies cannot destroy, and this is becoming more and more true every day. Going forward from here we will be competing more and more against the rest of the world. New York City cannot compete with an arm and a leg tied behind their back.
