My Super Bowl Party that ended up uniting the Conservatives/Republicans attending (vanity)
Me

Posted on 02/08/2016 12:13:09 AM PST by MacMattico

Each year for the past 20 we host a Super Bowl party and we invite the usual group of friends and family and allow our friends and family to bring others as long as they tell me in advance so I have enough food and drink available.

This year we had an interesting mix. Before kickoff one guy said he wished they could find a way Obama could run again, and that Obama was one of the best Presidents we've ever had. My husband quickly stuffed a crab puff in my mouth, in an attempt to keep the peace. But of course our friends were there and asked the guy if he were insane. My brother asked him how he could be so stupid and that Obamacare was one of the worst things that has ever happened to this country. One person said "let's just watch the game."

A few minutes into the game the female that had arrived with this guy said "I wish, no I can't wait, until the Democrats have enough power with Hillary as President to take away everybody's guns. Nobody needs a gun except the police and the army." Now it was the husbands turn. I wasn't going to try to keep any peace after this comment! My husband is usually calm, doesn't raise his voice, and doesn't dive into controversy when we have a family event. He spoke his mind but then this guy started screaming at my husband, and said if he could he'd call 911 and have my husband's guns taken away right then and there. My husband responded that he was such a typical liberal a-hole that he would come into our home, eat our food, drink our drinks, and than demand to take our guns. There were arguments back and forth for at least twenty minutes. Remember that question at the last debate about women being drafted? Well according to these idiots this meant that the republicans were ready to institute a draft and told my daughter she was going to Iraq. My 18 year old daughter spoke up and told the libs they were talking in circles, making no sense, and obvioualy didn't watch the debate but read some "psycho-leftist page". My daughter also said if it came to the point where her service was absolutely needed to defend the country, she wouldn't mind being drafted. As a mother I was glad she spoke her mind but when the crazies started getting vile I collected their coats and told them it was time to go. Can you believe they had the nerve to ask if they could stay because they had no place to watch and wanted dinner?! I said no one that treated my family and friends as they had and screamed the words they had used with children and elderly people around was staying. Then they asked if they could have some food to go!! I was furious about this time and said 'you come in here telling my husband you can't wait until his second amendment rights are taken away, you treat a high school student the way you did.. Out now. But here's $10, go down to McDonalds and eat and watch the game. You see, I am the compassionate person here, you are an instigator, a hater and just want free stuff. Leave now!" And they left... taking my $10!

I haven't even gone in to all they were saying, it was just to much to post. But I'll tell you this. After they left, all of the remaining party goers (about 40 people) said that they would vote for whoever the republican nominee was. Before this they were all over the map on who they could and couldn't support. My husband had said he didn't know if he could vote for Trump. He's not my choice in the primary either. There were at least 5 democrats. I've never seen anything like it. Our football parties have never become political. The rational democrats of our group realized their party was trying to pull them over the edge to the land of the crazies. Of course watching the game was ruined, but we have 40 votes for the Republican nominee, whoever it is, and we will all pledge our time to keep the Clinton's and their group of nut jobs out of the White House.

I invited a family member who asked if they could bring these people who I was
acquainted with vaguely but didn’t know they’d pull this.

************

So are you going to invite the family member back to your party?

Stories like this are why I’m misanthropic and antisocial.

We are a very divided country ....very

I sympathize with what you experienced.....
..I think many of us are going through moments like this.....with friends, relatives, workers, Facebook folks, etc

I try to keep politics off my Facebook page.......
...but I was so insulted by the remarks of a young woman I had watched grow up and never expected to see her so nasty

In the worse type of insulting language she was feeling superior to never vote for Donald Trump and informing her friends that those who do are insane

Finally, I could take no more.....
...and I actually prayed before I responded
And then I tried to gently school her, thinking she would respect my advanced years, perhaps wisdom and honor my bond with her parents...

No go, she just kept mouthing off.
She’s misinformed, not teacheable, and rude......and she is leaving this whole dialogue on her facebook page...
For my part, I know what I said was well thought out.....not rude....and nothing I am ashamed of

But this is where we are folks

Some times it simply comes down to the .....’tyranny of the raised eyebrow’....
and we cannot let ourselves be bullied.....even by young whippersnappers

Wow...ours was pretty tame compared to yours. One person admitted being a democrat and another guest demanded the democrat cover the cost of all his bets, beer and food since that's what they're all about, LOL. After that, the talk was strictly football.

yikes...kinda like current politics. Repubs are great until they cave and give you the ten bucks you wanted.

I have been seeing the same thing by RATS showing up to parties and then promoting firearm confiscation.
They seemed professionally trained as they all say the same thing.

They sound like the kind of people that believe “swatting” is justified. Watch your back.

but their Irish Catholic family identity holds them back.

That excuse died with the death of Bob Casey, Sr. I am a German-Irish-Polish-English Catholic, and we left that party decades ago.

The GOP will be powerless because they are not allowed to sue over election fraud BY LAW!

How can we beat that? Perhaps start a third party for that sole purpose, with the financial backing of the defrauded?

Man, those people were typical liberals if ever I heard of any! Coming to your house, accepting your hospitality, unable to keep politics out of anything, insisting they are right, insulting you, and still demanding free stuff!

I was being polite, using it as a lead in to inviting them to leave.

In reality, I'd have shown them the door and they'd have been lucky not to have the dogs escort them off the property.

"These Democrats have become used to having their way."

It has been my experience for decades (not just the Obama years) that libs have little difficulty vomiting their b.s. no matter who's present, but that conservatives politely sit there quietly.
