Manning just isn't the same
SUPER BOWL 50 | 07 FEBRUARY 2016 | EEE

Denver should put the backup QB in. Manning clearly isn't as good as he used to be. His passes aren't sharp but Denver's defense is keeping him in the game. I want him to win but this is a team game.

Newton was arrogant, played the race card in the media and choked in the big game. The play where he pulled back from diving on his own fumble probably cost his team the game.

Houston will host the Super Bowl next year. Several comments on our local news about our wanting to select our own half time performers next year. I know that NFL chooses the half time performers but I do wish they would stay out of it.

“He backed away from it.” That’s what hubby and the TV guys said,’

The TV guys said it over and over again. I thought that second-guessing accusation was out of line.

First, another Panther player was nearby and Cam might have thought that he had a better bead on the ball. 2nd, the coach may have told Cam not to take too many chances. 3rd, it all happened very fast, something we can forget watching replays. 4th, all sorts of mistakes happen in a game that anyone can fault; it’s different for anyone actually playing.

I don’t see how anyone watching the game could fail to appreciate that Cam took a lot of licks out there and was trying to help his team win throughout the game.

Manning might not be as great throwing the ball as he once was, but he is every bit as smart. Having thirty completed passes and three passing touchdowns is not how Denver was going to win this game. Manning’s job was to protect the football, and he did that to a “T”. It was all about the team, and not about his personal stats.

What’s funny is that the year after he left, Tennessee won the National Championship.

I thought Bruno Mars did great at halftime and stole the show.

I really like the way Peyton Manning sandbagged Can Newton all week.

Manning can no longer throw a spiral... That’s why his receivers dropped like ten balls against Pittsburgh before they adjusted. He’s throwing ducks but he still has one of the best minds in the game and knows where to throw it...if he can get it there.

And ended up getting his ass kicked by an old white guy.

How many teams with winning records did Carolina beat during the regular season? 3? And their one loss was to a team that finished 8-8. Newton has great ability and talent, but he could do with a dose of humility.

I guess he got that tonight... Well, he got a slice of humble pie, anyway. Whether that instills any humility in him remains to be seen.

“...Cam took a lot of licks out there and was trying to help his team win throughout the game.”

Yes.

I’m glad to hear there is someone else who saw it more as I did.

I would have been happy with either team winning, this was a very low stress (actually no stress) Super Bowl for me.

But now I have the same old post Super Bowl NO FOOTBALL sadness.

I forgave the Mets this year so I may give baseball a shot again this year!

And......GO RAVENS!

I had friends over and one of them is a real Facebook addict. The instant the halftime event was over, the word on FACEBOOK was “SUPERBOWL FIFTY-Shades of Gay.”

We went out to dinner with friends at a restaurant that does not have a TV during the game but recorded the game and then watched it when we got home without commercials and halftime. Opening ceremony was a pleasant surprise but from what I’ve read and heard, we didn’t miss much by not watching the commercials or the halftime.

Appears that the game was just an excuse to further the gay agenda.

A professional football team that thinks it needs its quarterback to be 40 - 60 years old has to be looking at something the wrong way.

If they quit running it, manning would look different. Kibiak will never see another Super Bowl after Payton. The combo of a great defense and the mental ability of manning won that one. How many series did they run three runs for no yards and then out.
